  • Third suspect arrested in ammonia theft

    A third suspect has been arrested following a three-month investigation into the theft of anhydrous ammonia from a local ice production facility.

    Anhydrous ammonia, used at the ice production facility as a cooling agent, is a precursor chemical in the production of methamphetamine, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit Detective Sgt. Israel West said.

    Possessing a precursor chemical in the production of methamphetamine in North Carolina is a Class E felony.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     Shallotte Police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •James Edward Clabaugh Sr., 46, of 1711 Sommersett Road SW, Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested for shoplifting, possession of schedule II and possession of schedule III. Clabaugh was arrested in the Walmart parking lot after a Dewalt box stolen from Home Depot was located.

    •Larceny by taking items without paying from Home Depot; a Dewalt box tool combo kit was stolen from the store.

  • OCean Isle Beach Crime Report

     The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Larry Van Timberlake, 35, of 201 Eaglewood Drive, Middlesex, was arrested for drunk and disruptive, communicating threats and resisting arrest at Second Street Bar and Grill.

    •Breaking and entering to motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and property damage in a parking lot area on Causeway Drive.

  • Thefts investigated in Sunset Beach

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following reported incidents involving larceny.

    •On Oct. 15, larceny of Adderall pills was reported from a house on Elderberry Lane.

    •On Oct. 14, larceny of a boat and 25-horsepower motor and trailer was reported. An unknown person went to a residence on Marlin Street, hooked up a boat and trailer and pulled it away.

    •On Oct. 11, someone drove off without paying for $25 worth of gas at Market Express.

  • Two arrested for stealing ammonia from ice company

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Oct. 10-16 ACE deputies issued three driving while impaired charges.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Kevin C. Cook, 40, of 1692 Lincoln Road, Leland, was charged with driving while impaired.

    •Stanley Ray Aldridge, 52, of 145 Lullwater Drive, Apt. 206, Wilmington, was charged with driving while impaired.

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on Sept. 27, 28, 29 and Oct. 3 in Bolivia.

    Codes: PG, pleaded guilty; PNG/NG, pleaded not guilty, found not guilty; PNG/G, pleaded not guilty, found guilty; BCDC, Brunswick County Detention Center; NCDOC, North Carolina Department of Corrections.

  • Man charged with breaking and entering

    A Vermont man has been charged with breaking and entering after someone broke into a house on the Sunset Beach island.

    John J. Ennis, 20, was charged after a man broke into a house on Second Street and began staying there, Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said. Ennis was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle from Vermont in the incident reported Oct. 5.

    In another case reported Sept. 26, an Ocean Isle Beach man told police money had been taken from his account at a Sunset Beach bank.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Leroy Junior Johnson, 39, of 756 Etta Lane, NW, Supply, was arrested at the Kangaroo on Main Street after asking a police officer for a ride to Cardinal Point. Johnson was found to have an active warrant for robbery with a dangerous weapon.

    •Larceny of a bicycle on Sanquine Lane; a hand-painted Huffy was taken without the owner’s permission.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

     The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny at Sanddwellers II; someone entered the home and removed a 32- inch flat screen TV.

    •Assault on a female on West First Street; male subject dragged a female by the arms.

    •Eric Grant Woodard, 40, of 1625 N Lafayette St., Shelby, was arrested for assault on a female.
