  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Armed robbery on Walker Street in Leland; suspects entered victim’s business armed with guns.

    •Fire investigation on Cross Street in Shallotte; victim’s doublewide trailer caught on fire.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Robinsons Park Trail in Supply; suspect attempted to enter victim’s residence, damaging two doors and a screen window.

  • ACE roundup: Ten arrested for impaired driving charges

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team arrested 10 people for impaired driving last week.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From June 6-12, ACE deputies issued 70 total arrests and citations, including four driving while impaired charges and 18 speed violations.

    The following suspects were charged:

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From June 6-12, K-9 deputies issued 14 citations and made nine drug arrests.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Albert Wayne Skipper, 30, of 518 Town Creek Road NE in Leland, was charged with possession of one-half ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Jason Lee Calhoun, 40, of 2696 Craven St., Supply, was charged with resisting a public officer.

  • Calabash woman killed in single-car wreck

    LONGWOOD—A Calabash woman was killed Monday in a single-car wreck on Longwood Road.

    According to N.C. State Highway Patrol Sgt. T.T. Daniels, Sarah Nicole Linker, 24, of Calabash, was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Longwood Road near N.C. 130 Monday evening.

    Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, Linker was driving her 2008 Ford passenger vehicle north on Longwood Road.

  • Leland woman wanted for PTO embezzlement

    A Leland woman is wanted for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from a local parent-teacher organization.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said sheriff’s detectives are searching for Dana Leigh Brooks, 38, of 3430 Andrew Jackson Highway, Leland.

    Brooks is wanted for twelve counts of embezzlement for allegedly embezzling more than $5,000 from the PTO at Lincoln Primary School, Stanley said.

  • Armed bank robbery suspect arrested

    A South Carolina man has been arrested for an armed bank robbery in Supply last week.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said sheriff’s deputies arrested Rodney Lee Adelstone II for an armed robbery at Waccamaw Bank last week.

    Stanley said Adelstone, 22, of 709 48th Ave., North Myrtle Beach, S.C., entered the bank at 3178 Holden Beach Road just before 12:45 p.m. Thursday, June 9, handed a note to the teller stating he had a gun and demanding she give him “all the money.”

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    A Cary man was arrested for several drug charges after being stopped at a driver’s license checkpoint last week.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said sheriff’s deputies conducted a driver’s license checkpoint on U.S. 17 at the state line Sunday, May 29.

    Deputies seized 29 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of marijuana, $808 in cash, a BMW and various drug paraphernalia, including plastic bags, scales and rolling papers.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Maplewood Drive in Calabash; suspect entered victim’s residence and stole a laptop.

    •Breaking and entering to an auto, larceny and property damage on Ocean Highway West in Supply; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole medication and money. The suspect also damaged the vehicle’s door handle.

  • ACE roundup: Ten arrested for impaired driving charges

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team arrested 10 people for impaired driving last week, which included the Memorial Day holiday.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Sunday, May 30, through Sunday, June 5, ACE deputies issued 74 total arrests and citations, including 10 driving while impaired charges and 14 speed violations.

  • Holden Beach police report

    Officers with the Holden Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week.

    •Two victims reported larceny of money on Cole Street on May 26.

    •Larceny of a surfboard was reported on Ocean Boulevard West on May 30.

    •Shane Michael Britt, 18, of 701 Hazel Road, Charleston, W.Va., was arrested and charged with assault with injury to real property, consuming alcohol under the age of 21 and drunk and disruptive.
