  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Holden Beach Road in Supply; suspect pulled out cable cord from behind victim’s home.

    •Larceny on Twisted Lane in Bolivia; suspect stole victim’s trailer.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Holden Beach Road in Shallotte; suspect entered victim’s garage and stole tools and copper wire.

    SUNSET BEACH—Police charged a man Friday with failure to appear.
    Sunset Beach police arrested Michael Holland, 25, on a warrant after they found him at a residence in Sea Trail.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged Megan Marie Gray, 24, of 2762 Flamingo Road, Shallotte, with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and driving left of center. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $2,000 secured bond.

  • Sheriff’s detectives searching for larceny suspects

    Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for two suspects they say were involved in a larceny at Walgreens on Sabbath Home Road.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, sheriff’s detectives are searching for two unidentified suspects involved in a larceny from Walgreens at 1138 Sabbath Home Road in Supply around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20.

    Stanley said the suspects stole about $500 worth of concealed items from the store.

  • Woman with Brunswick ties found dead in Asheboro

    An Ash native living in Asheboro was found dead Tuesday in a wooded area off Brewer Street in Asheboro.

    Asheboro Police Lt. Richard Thompson said the body of 22-year-old Shaunna Walley was found around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday several feet from a trail off Brewer Street in Asheboro by a person who was walking on the trail.

    Walley’s great uncle, Jeff Carll, said Walley, who grew up in the Ash area and has ties to the Brunswick County community, had been living in Asheboro for about a year and a half.

  • Car hits Citgo building, injures employees

    Steven McInturff drove his 2006 Kia into the side of the Citgo station on Holden Beach Road Monday morning, pinning an employee between the car and the wall and also injuring the manager, according to Chief Doug Todd of the Tri-Beach Fire Department and Trooper Ricky Hooks of the N.C. Highway Patrol. Both employees were transported Brunswick Community Hospital for minor injuries, Hooks said. McInturff was charged with unsafe movement.

  • One suspect arrested, one wanted for breaking and entering in Leland

    LELAND—One suspect has been arrested; a second suspect is wanted and remains at large for breaking into a Leland home and stealing more than $8,000 worth of property.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley said Christopher Wayne Lanier and Bradley Joshua Jarman have been charged for their alleged roles in the breaking and entering and larceny to a home off Shady Hill Lane in Leland between Monday, May 10, and Thursday, May 13.

  • Detectives searching for stolen firearms suspect

    Update: Jonathan Blake Kohler has been arrested, and is in custody at the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond. He has been charged with three counts of larceny of a firearm. Shallotte Police have additional charges pending.

    Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a suspect charged with three counts of larceny of a firearm.

  • One detention officer fired, another demoted after internal investigation

    BOLIVIA—A detention officer with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has been terminated following an internal investigation.

    A second detention officer has been demoted in rank following the same investigation.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley, responding to a public records request, detention officer/jailor 1 Terry White, 40, was released at the discretion of the sheriff May 12. White was hired Dec. 6, 2009, and until he was released, made an annual salary of $28,789.
