  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on North Howe Street in Southport; suspect broke window of victim’s vehicle and stole money, a wallet, a cell phone, credit cards, checkbooks, medication and victim’s purse.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Ross Court in Southport; suspect stole victim’s medication.

  • Officers from multiple agencies searching for breaking and entering suspect

    Officers from multiple local law enforcement agencies are searching for a suspect wanted with a string of residential break-ins.

    Detectives from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office as well as Oak Island, Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Holden Beach police departments have been investigating the string of break-ins for several months.

    Warrants have been issued for Hamilton John Ortiz Bones, 33, for the break-ins.

    A reward is being offered for information leading to the apprehension and prosecution of the suspect.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •William Shawn Ryan, 29, of 7 Pender Street, Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with assault on a female.

    •Larceny and obtaining property by false pretense at Walmart; suspect rolled a 45-inch HD television out of the store without paying for it.

    •Vandalism on Paisley Drive; suspect scratched victim’s vehicle on the passenger side door and hood.

  • Drug agents make arrests

    Agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit made the following arrests last week:

    •Christian Orion Russ, 20, of 1610 Russtown Road, Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Russ was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $10,000 bond.

  • Incidents, arrest in Sunset Beach

    An Ocean Isle Beach man has been arrested and charged by Sunset Beach police for driving while impaired.

    Kenneth Wayne Gardner, 55, of Sunset Dock, Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with DWI on Jan. 28.

    Sunset Beach police also investigated two separate, reported incidents of breaking-and-entering and larceny to real property. The incidents were reported Jan. 28 at a residence on Resort Circle, and on Jan. 26 at a residence on East Main Street.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Motor vehicle theft on Shell Point Road SW in Shallotte; suspect stole victim’s golf cart.

    •Burglary and larceny on Pine Lake Drive in Shallotte; suspect entered victim’s residence and stole an iPhone and a power cable.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Turkey Trap Road in Supply; suspect pried open victim’s front door and stole a TV, DVDs and clothes.

    •Discharging a bow on other’s property on Paisley Drive; suspect discharged a bow on someone else’s property.

    •Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; suspect took a golf cart without permission.

    •Domestic on Brooks Court; suspect struck victim.

  • Three arrested for DWI in Sunset Beach

    Three people were recently arrested for driving while impaired.

    •Parna Hopkins, 64, of 1830 Unit 209, Seaside Road, was charged with DWI Jan. 8 by the Sunset Beach Police Department.

    •Virginio Velaz Dominguez, 31, of 8987 Jennis Ave., Calabash, was charged with DWI.

    •Luis Caricio, 32, of 6864 Eastbrook Ave., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with DWI.

  • Oak Island police warn of break-ins

    Since Nov. 1, detectives with the Oak Island Police Department have investigated a string of breaking-and-entering cases. The thieves target TVs and other electronics.

    Police from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and up the North Carolina coast all report multiple breaking-and-entering incidents.

    Numerous leads are being followed-up on and new leads are reported daily, according to Oak Island police officials.

    Since November, Oak Island police say 43 break-ins, mainly to vacant homes, have been reported. From those homes, 48 TVs have been stolen.

    •Larceny on Lycia Lane in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect stole item from victim’s boat.

    •Burglary and larceny on Lula Street in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect kicked in victim’s front door and stole radio/TV/stereo equipment.
