  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

  • Supply man arrested by two departments last week

    A Supply man was arrested last week for multiple charges by two law enforcement agencies.

    According to Holden Beach Police Detective Justin Hewett, Johnny Ray Small Jr., 37, of 2012 Ash St., Supply, was charged with breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, larceny from a motor vehicle, two counts of credit card theft and obtaining property by false pretences on Aug. 27.

  • Oak Island woman arrested for intimidating witness in a drug investigation

    An Oak Island woman was arrested last week for intimidating a state’s witness.

    According to Sgt. April Stanley, spokesperson for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Carrie Bernard Dobbs, 36, of NE 58th St., Oak Island, was arrested at a Southport business on Aug. 23.

    Dobbs was charged with one count of intimidating a state’s witness of an ongoing drug investigation, Stanley said. Dobbs was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where she was placed under a $25,000 secured bond.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Larceny of bicycles on West First Street; bicycles were later recovered.

    •Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and larceny from a motor vehicle on West First Street; an unknown suspect stole a DVD player, which was later recovered.

    •Breaking and entering to an automobile and larceny from a motor vehicle on East First Street; an unknown suspect stole an iPod.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Aug. 16-22, K-9 deputies answered 22 calls, wrote five citations and made eight drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies patrolled Shell Point Acres, Winnabow and Seashore Road.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Elbert Raynard Johnson, 53, of 2650 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, was charged with possession of an open container of alcohol.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    After agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit received several community complaints of ongoing drug activity at 480 Golden Lane, Supply, a joint effort between the drug unit and the sheriff’s office K-9 enforcement team led to multiple arrests.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley, the investigation also led to the seizure of marijuana, diverted prescription medication and a firearm.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Simple assault on King Road in Leland; suspect came at victim with a knife.

    •Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Woodslands Way in Calabash; suspect took victim’s vehicle and did not return it.

    •Breaking and entering on Flagship Avenue in Southport; suspect entered victim’s residence without authorization.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.
    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged Billy Vester Jones Jr., 35, of 269 Union School Road, Shallotte, with violation of a restraining order after receiving a call about a domestic violence incident. Police stopped Jones, who admitted to having been with the victim in violation of a domestic violence restraining order. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed under a $1,500 secured bond.

  • Internet sweepstakes café robbed

    The Gold Strike Internet Sweepstakes Café on Holden Beach Road was robbed Monday.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley, two male suspects robbed the sweepstakes café around 9:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23.

    Stanley said the suspects entered the business and demanded cash. A patron was assaulted during the robbery. The suspects then left the business with an undisclosed amount of cash, and the patron suffered minor injuries.
