  • South-end task force arrests Supply man for possession of stolen property

    Detectives with the South-End Task Force, which include sheriff’s deputies and officers with police departments in the southwest part of Brunswick County, arrested a Supply man for possessing stolen property.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, detectives arrested Danny Keith Clanton, 27, of Supply, on Thursday, April 15.

    Clanton was charged with felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor larceny.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From April 12-18, K-9 deputies answered 27 calls, wrote six citations and made six drug arrests. K-9 deputies patrolled the following communities: Carolina Shores, Croft Pointe, Magnolia Greens, Waterford, Brunswick Forest, The Farm and Seashore Hills.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Kevin Ronette Stanley, 28, of 301 Marlowtown Road, Calabash; charged with flee to elude arrest.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny of gas on Hickman Road in Calabash; suspect stole fuel from victim’s vehicle.

    •Larceny on Flagship Avenue in Southport; suspect stole victim’s vehicle from residence.

    •Larceny on Ocean Highway in Winnabow; suspect stole watch from a display case at an antique store.

  • Wreck sends one to hospital

    Troopers and EMTs responded to the scene of a wreck on N.C. 130 near the Ash community Tuesday afternoon. According to Shallotte Fire Chief Paul Dunwell, one female driver was transported to the hospital. Dunwell said the driver stopped her car for a braking school bus, but the driver of the vehicle behind her did not stop and hit her car, sending it sailing into the nearby ditch. No one in the school bus was injured.

  • Ocean Isle Beach - Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Jose C. Martinez, 28, of Ocean Isle Beach; charged with disorderly conduct on East Second Street.

    •Forging/uttering at First Bank on Causeway Drive; unknown subject tried to pass a stolen check.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on Monroe Street; suspect damaged door casing, locks and locket and took a flat screen TV.

  • Three to be charged with Sunset Beach thefts

    SUNSET BEACH—Charges are pending against three South Carolina residents in connection with two break-ins and thefts reported in March in Sea Trail.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said Tuesday detective Woody Dunn is going to charge the suspects with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny related to the incidents reported March 7 and March 8 at a Sea Trail restaurant and real estate office.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged James Joseph Winter, 37, of 2914 Bay Village Road, Shallotte, with breaking and entering and larceny. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

    •Police charged Billy Vester Jones Jr., 35, of 269 Union School Road, Shallotte, with driving while impaired and driving while license revoked. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

  • Sheriff’s detectives searching for Supply breaking and entering suspect

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives are searching for the suspect or suspects involved in a breaking and entering to a Supply business.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, R&R Seafood, 3 Fisherman Road, Supply, was broken into between 3 p.m. March 25 and 10 a.m. March 26. A significant amount of cash was stolen from the business.

  • Leland brother, sister arrested for prescription pill trafficking

    On Wednesday, April 14, agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a brother and sister for allegedly operating a prescription pill trafficking operation.

    After a one-day investigation brought on by community complaints, drug agents secured a search warrant for a home at 7013 Pine Cliff Drive in Leland, Sgt. Steve Lanier said.
