    Jan. 8

    Larceny in Rourk Woods; suspect removed storm drains and water valve covers.

     

    Jan. 9

    Larceny of a wallet on Village Road; suspect removed victim’s wallet from a truck door pocket.

  • BCSO Crime Report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    Jan. 9

    Calls for service on Gray Bridge Road, Shallotte.

    Larceny of hydrocodone on Nicholas Place, Winnabow.

    Simple physical assault on Bell Way, Leland.

    Burglary with forcible entry and vandalism on Copas Road, Shallotte; suspect took three bottles of perfume, a necklace, diamond earrings, a painting, two clocks, antiques, PlayStation 3 games, a lamp, a bottle of Vicodin and a bottle of Loratab.

  • Drive-by shooting, robbery, argument keep BCSO deputies busy

    It was a busy weekend for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. Two separate incidents in Shallotte involving guns left one person in the hospital with a gunshot wound and another in possession of more than $27,000 worth of items stolen.

    A third incident in Bolivia also involved gunfire.

    On Friday, Jan. 11, a little before 10:30 p.m., two people at 641 NW Tryon Road, Shallotte, were watching the Lakers basketball game on television. According to Capt. Mose Highsmith, BCSO Legal Affairs, an unknown subject or subjects fired into the residence.

  • Leland Police report

    The Leland Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

     

    Jan. 12

    Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and larceny; unknown suspect entered an unsecured vehicle parked on Bent Green Drive and took a man’s gold and diamond ring valued at $1,000 and a $300 iPod.

  • Sunset Beach Police make DWI arrest

    A Sunset Beach man has been arrested and charged with DWI.

    Brian David Lynch, 26, of 864 Great Egret Circle was charged on Jan. 12.

  • Calabash Fire Report

    During December, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 133 calls: 12 structure fires, two woods/brush fires, four fire alarm activations, four motor vehicle incidents, 98 EMS first-response calls and 13 public service calls. 

  • Leland Police report

    The Leland Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

     

    Jan. 1

    Bemon Wilson Kennedy, 48, 933 Village Road; arrested on an outstanding warrant and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public official.

     

    Jan. 2

    Larceny; unknown suspects removed cast iron storm drain grates, valued at $400, from the roadway at Brunswick Forest parkway.

  • Holden Beach police report

    The Holden Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

     

    Dec. 31

    Larceny from a boat and criminal damage to property; suspect took a gas tank, gasoline and a fuel line, with a total value of $57, from a boat parked on Lumberton Street.

    Child intervention on East Second Street; child wasn’t returned to its mother. The case was closed.

    Breaking and entering and larceny on East Second Street; unknown subjects took a laser grade level, a concrete saw and an angle grinder.
