Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect they believe broke into several Hickmans Crossroads area homes last week.

Lt. Sam Davis said the suspect is a tall, slender-to-medium build, white male. He is described as being in his late-20s or early-30s.

The suspect has a tattoo of a sword or dagger on his inner left arm. He is driving a burgundy Mazda.

Davis reminds residents to lock their doors, activate alarm systems and be aware of their property and their neighbors’ property.

A Supply man was sentenced Tuesday to more than 10 years in federal prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for a child pornography charge.

U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced 60-year-old Daniel Lenix Carlisle to 121 months in prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a federal grand jury returned an indictment on May 15. On July 28, Carlisle pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.

Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

•Police charged Joan Carol Stanley, 49, of Hen Cove Road, Shallotte, with being drunk and disruptive Tuesday, Sept. 30. An officer responded to a call about a person in the street. When the officer arrived, Stanley was sitting on the side of the road.

After being treated by EMS, she cursed at the officer and would not comply with the directions. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit made the following arrests last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

•Melinda Kay Edge, 25, of 395 South Crow Creek Drive, Calabash; charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Michael Paul Perrone, 33, 7102 Beach Drive, Ocean Isle Beach; charged with possession of ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
