  • Bolivia woman arrested for breaking and entering, property damage

    A Bolivia woman has been arrested, charged with breaking and entering, property damage and simple assault.

    Jessica Paige Reeves, 28, of 296 Long Leaf Hill Drive, Bolivia, was arrested May 17, according to a booking report. Reeves was charged with one count of breaking and entering, one count of property damage and two counts of simple assault.

    According to an incident report, Reeves allegedly broke a window to a home on Coastal Drive in Southport, damaging a door window.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny and property damage on No. 5 School Road in Ash; suspect cut victim’s phone line inside the residence.

    •Larceny on Industrial Boulevard in Leland; suspect stole $44,000 worth of white and yellow gold sticks from victim’s business.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged Enrique Cruz Perez, 28, of 389 Tarklin Court, Shallotte, with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and careless and reckless driving in the CVS parking lot, where an officer found him to be “very impaired.” He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

  • Man arrested for drugs in jail

    A Supply man has been charged with possession of drugs in jail after he was brought to the Brunswick County Detention Center on suspicion of driving while impaired.

    Daniel Roniell King, 50, of 849 Makatoka Road, Supply, was charged with possession of one-half ounce or less of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance on a prison or jail premises, according to King’s arrest report.

  • Ocean Isle Beach - Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Sandra Hood, 42, of King; charged with driving while impaired, parked vehicle in roadway and failed to burn headlights, tail lamps.

    •Larceny on East First Street.

    •Property damage at East Second Street.

    •Steven Balsavich, 29, of Supply; charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

  • Larceny reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated a motor vehicle break-in reported on Magnolia Drive.

    Currency and a Gerber knife were reported stolen in the incident.

    Police also investigated a report of larceny of an automobile from Dogwood Drive. After information was entered into the National Crime Information Center, the owner remembered permission had been given for neighbors to drive the vehicle.

  • Shallotte man charged with stealing handguns from a pawnshop

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a Shallotte man for stealing two handguns from a local pawnshop.

    On Monday, May 10, detectives arrested Gregory Glen Schupman, 26, of 938 Palmer Drive, Shallotte, and charged him with two counts of felony larceny of a firearm, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley.

    According to Stanley, Schupman allegedly stole two handguns from Jenny’s Pawn and Jewelry on Holden Beach Road.

  • Supply man charged with methamphetamine possession

    A Supply man was arrested last week, charged with possession of methamphetamine.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit Sgt. Israel West, drug agents arrested Donald Weston Jr. after they intercepted a UPS package containing crystal methamphetamine. The package contained 7 grams of methamphetamine, which carries a $1,400 street value.

  • Two arrested for stolen golf carts, utility trailers in Ocean Isle Beach

    OCEAN ISLE BEACH—Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two suspects for golf cart and utility trailer thefts in the Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach areas.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detective Chris Barbour said detectives recovered two golf carts and one utility trailer stolen from the mainland Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach areas.

    Robert Dion Maldanado and Gary Lynn Thompson were arrested for the thefts May 5.

  • Oak Island woman killed by drunk driver

    An Oak Island woman and mother of three was killed Friday night when her car was struck head-on by a drunk driver.

    Satu Harris, 38, of Oak Island, died Friday, May 7, when her car was hit head-on by a truck driven by Daniel Harrison Brennick, according to a N.C. State Highway Patrol report.

    Brennick, 22, of Southport, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck north on N.C. 133 about 3.5 miles north of Southport around 11:29 p.m. May 7.
