  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police arrested Billy Ray Thomas, 50, of Edge Water Drive, Shallotte, on charge of failure to appear. He was placed in the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

    •Counterfeit money at the Scotchman’s on Main Street; suspect gave the clerk a counterfeit $100 bill.

    •Larceny of cash at Wal-Mart; victim left money, which was then allegedly taken by an employee.

  • Calabash man sentenced to 25 years for armed robbery

    NEW BERN—A Calabash man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for the armed robbery of several Advance Auto Parts stores in coastal North Carolina and South Carolina.

    U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced 51-year-old Thomas Lauren Pfoff to 300 months, or 25 years, in prison for his role in the robberies.

    According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Pfoff was convicted of robbing Advanced Auto Parts stores in Shallotte, Wilmington, Conway, S.C., Garden City, S.C., Georgetown, S.C., and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Fraud on River Road in Calabash; suspect gave counterfeit money to a restaurant.

    •Property damage on Dogwood Road in Leland; suspect damaged the underpinning of victim’s home.

    •Larceny on Martingale Court NE in Leland; suspect stole pump from victim’s yard.

  • OCEAN ISLE BEACH CRIME REPORT

    Ocean Isle Beach police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    • Justin Kyle Loeser, 32 of Sunset Beach; arrested for misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury, possession of or less ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the police report, the suspect was arrested after engaging in a physical altercation at Victoria’s Restaurant & Bar, and drugs were found as a result of a search of the suspect.

  • HOLDEN BEACH POLICE REPORT

    Holden Beach police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week.

    All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Burglary and larceny on Brunswick Avenue; suspect stole a power saw, fishing rods and reels and a boat motor valued at more than $2,800.

    •Larceny of copper on Greensboro Street; suspect stole copper wire valued at $3,000.

  • Sunset Beach crime report

    Two men were recently arrested in separate assault cases.

    Brandon Britt Parrish, 24, of 538 Magnolia Drive, Sunset Beach, was arrested and charged with assault on a female on Sunday, June 15.

    Paul Douglas Allard Jr., 44, of 201 Station Trail in Sunset Beach, was arrested and charged with assault on a female on Wednesday, June 11, according to Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith.

    On June 14, a vehicle break-in with two counts of larceny was reported in the Food Lion parking lot.

  • Community policing roundup

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies issued the following citations and made the following arrests last weekend through its community policing program.

    The sheriff’s office community policing program targets areas within the county with high crime and drug activity through increased patrols.

    Areas targeted last weekend include Seashore and Turkey Trap roads, Supply; McMilly Road, Shallotte; and Hewett-Burton and Wolfridge roads, Leland.

  • LELAND POLICE REPORT

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect pumped $40 worth of fuel at Go Gas and did not pay for it.

    •Larceny on Reed Road; suspect stole an unknown amount of money from a store.

    •An arrest warrant has been issued for Danny Rogers, 29, of 9564 Holly Hills Drive, Leland, after a woman reported he assaulted her during an argument.

    •Communicating threats on Combine Lane; Harold Morrison, 34, of 78 Combine Lane was charged with communicating threats.

  • Gasoline theft reported to Sunset Beach police

    SUNSET BEACH—Local police investigated a report by Sloane Vacations of a gasoline theft June 8.

    According to a Sunset Beach Police Department report, someone broke into a garage at The Colony II at Oyster Bay and siphoned gas out of power tools and a company van.

    Also on June 8, police arrested a man who declined to give his name on a charge of drunk and disorderly conduct on the beach. The man, tentatively identified as “Peter Doe” until his actual name could be determined, was being held at Brunswick County jail on a $500 bond.
