Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following information and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports.

•Larceny on Devane Road in Shallotte; suspect removed sign from victim’s property.

•Breaking and entering and property damage on Blue Banks Loop in Northwest; suspect kicked in victim’s door and damaged home.

•Mail tampering at the Bolivia Post Office; suspect went through victim’s mail.

Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit made the following arrests last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports, are:

•April Laquan Daniels, 28, of 6308 Apt. 2 Kerry Lane, Ocean Isle Beach; charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Melanie Jeanine Hayes, 24, of 3006 Harvest Road, Castle Hayne; charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Holden Beach police investigated vandalism May 7.

According to an incident report, the victim reported the right side of a truck bed being damaged on Lions Paw Street. The damage is valued at $500.

A 28-year-old Calabash man was found dead just before 10 p.m. May 8—a victim of an apparent drive-by shooting.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene on Pineclair Drive near Calabash, James Allen Murdock, of Acres Lane, was unresponsive in a vehicle.

Murdock was sitting in a vehicle near a residence on Pineclair Drive when a suspect or suspects driving a dark colored SUV shot at him, Lt. Sam Davis said.

Davis declined to say how many shots were fired or where Murdock was shot, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
