  • Ocean Isle Beach - Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Jose C. Martinez, 28, of Ocean Isle Beach; charged with disorderly conduct on East Second Street.

    •Forging/uttering at First Bank on Causeway Drive; unknown subject tried to pass a stolen check.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on Monroe Street; suspect damaged door casing, locks and locket and took a flat screen TV.

  • Three to be charged with Sunset Beach thefts

    SUNSET BEACH—Charges are pending against three South Carolina residents in connection with two break-ins and thefts reported in March in Sea Trail.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said Tuesday detective Woody Dunn is going to charge the suspects with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny related to the incidents reported March 7 and March 8 at a Sea Trail restaurant and real estate office.

  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged James Joseph Winter, 37, of 2914 Bay Village Road, Shallotte, with breaking and entering and larceny. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

    •Police charged Billy Vester Jones Jr., 35, of 269 Union School Road, Shallotte, with driving while impaired and driving while license revoked. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

  • Sheriff’s detectives searching for Supply breaking and entering suspect

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives are searching for the suspect or suspects involved in a breaking and entering to a Supply business.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, R&R Seafood, 3 Fisherman Road, Supply, was broken into between 3 p.m. March 25 and 10 a.m. March 26. A significant amount of cash was stolen from the business.

  • Leland brother, sister arrested for prescription pill trafficking

    On Wednesday, April 14, agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a brother and sister for allegedly operating a prescription pill trafficking operation.

    After a one-day investigation brought on by community complaints, drug agents secured a search warrant for a home at 7013 Pine Cliff Drive in Leland, Sgt. Steve Lanier said.

  • Three volunteer firefighters charged with setting woods fires

    Three volunteer firefighters—two who volunteered with Supply Fire Department and one who volunteered with Civietown Fire Department—have been charged with setting woods fires.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Mason, Danny Lee Russell and Bobby Lee Harris were arrested for allegedly setting two woods fires Monday morning.

    A third suspect, Miranda Garland, was arrested Monday afternoon, Mason said.

  • Escaped inmate back in Brunswick County custody

    An inmate who escaped from the Brunswick County Detention Center last September is now back in custody at the Brunswick facility.

    On April 8, officials with the North Carolina Department of Corrections transported Rosher Rodriguez-Aguilar to Brunswick County from Maryland. He had been in custody since he was arrested in Maryland during a routine traffic stop in November 2009, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. April Gause.

  • Operation Safe Easter nets 11 DWI charges, 74 total charges

    On April 2, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a checkpoint station on U.S. 74 westbound at the Brunswick River Bridge, just east of the Leland city limits.

    The sheriff’s office was assisted in the checkpoint by officers with the Leland Police Department, Navassa Police Department, Holden Beach Police Department, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, Whiteville Police Department, Lake Waccamaw Police Department and the North Carolina Tests for Alcohol BAT Mobile Unit.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Property damage on Benton Road SE in Bolivia; suspect broke window in victim’s track hoe.

    •Simple assault on Sunset Dock SW in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect hit victim in the face, causing multiple bruises.

    •Property damage in Old Town; suspect set victim’s wheelbarrow on fire.
