  • Missing person found

    Shallotte police helped locate a missing person from New Hanover County Thursday afternoon on White Street near Coastal Cinemas.

    Police found Robert Jutres, 39, and EMS transported him to a medical facility, according to a Shallotte Police Department spokesperson. Several police cars were parked along White Street around 3 p.m.

    No further information was available at press time.

  • Break-in suspect sought

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect they believe broke into several Hickmans Crossroads area homes last week.

    Lt. Sam Davis said the suspect is a tall, slender-to-medium build, white male. He is described as being in his late-20s or early-30s.

    The suspect has a tattoo of a sword or dagger on his inner left arm. He is driving a burgundy Mazda.

    Davis reminds residents to lock their doors, activate alarm systems and be aware of their property and their neighbors’ property.

  • CRIME REPORT

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering on Middleton Drive in Calabash; suspect entered victim’s locked residence and turned over items.

    •Breaking and entering, property damage and larceny of medication on Bonaparte Drive in Calabash; suspect entered victim’s residence through a back door, damaging windows.

  • Supply man sentenced for child pornography charge

    A Supply man was sentenced Tuesday to more than 10 years in federal prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for a child pornography charge.

    U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced 60-year-old Daniel Lenix Carlisle to 121 months in prison.

    According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a federal grand jury returned an indictment on May 15. On July 28, Carlisle pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.

  • K-9 enforcement roundup

    The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Police charged Joan Carol Stanley, 49, of Hen Cove Road, Shallotte, with being drunk and disruptive Tuesday, Sept. 30. An officer responded to a call about a person in the street. When the officer arrived, Stanley was sitting on the side of the road.

    After being treated by EMS, she cursed at the officer and would not comply with the directions. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

  • LELAND CRIME REPORT

    Leland police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Larceny on Foxridge Way; victim reported her debit/credit card was stolen from her unlocked car.

    •Assault with a deadly weapon and robbery on Mapletree Drive; suspect stabbed victim in lower abdomen and attempted to rob him.

  • DRUG REPORT

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit made the following arrests last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

    •Melinda Kay Edge, 25, of 395 South Crow Creek Drive, Calabash; charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Michael Paul Perrone, 33, 7102 Beach Drive, Ocean Isle Beach; charged with possession of ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • CRIME REPORT

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office arrest reports:

    •Property damage on Kestrel Drive in Shallotte; suspect ran over victim’s mailbox with a golf cart.

    •Larceny on Jabbertown Road in Southport; suspect stole a digital camera from victim’s residence.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Riveredge Drive in Calabash; suspect broke victim’s sliding glass door and entered the home.

  • Drug agents bust heroin trafficking ring

    LELAND—A major heroin trafficking ring in Leland has been shut down after law enforcement officers arrested four men they say were involved.

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit, Leland police officers and New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office drug enforcement agents ended a lengthy, multi-agency investigation with a search warrant at a Leland residence last Tuesday.

    Three suspects were arrested at the Leland home; Wilmington police arrested the fourth suspect three days later in Wilmington.
