SUNSET BEACH—A Brunswick County man was arrested early Sunday and charged in connection with a shooting at an after-prom party at Sea Trail.

James Russell Hill III, 20, of 7542 Ocean Highway, was charged around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 4, with assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill after shots were fired at another man and into an occupied dwelling at 246 Clubhouse Drive.

Also on May 4, police investigated a home break-in and theft on 28th Street on the Sunset Beach island. Someone forced open a utility door under the house and stole a set of golf clubs.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports.

•Larceny on Oakland Drive in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect stole a bike from victim’s driveway.

•Larceny on Ocean Highway in Shallotte; suspect took engine off a mixer.

•Breaking and entering and property damage on Southbend Court in Leland; suspect forced side door of garage open and stole a TV, a VCR and a modem.

Shallotte police made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents last week:

•Larceny at Sears; suspect took appliances from the rear of the store, including two refrigerators worth $800, two dishwashers worth $200, a $100 wall oven, a $100 stainless steel grill, two washing machines valued at $200 and a $100 36-inch TV.

•Motor vehicle theft at Hill’s Grocery; vehicle worth $4,000 was taken from the parking lot at Hill’s.

Ocean Isle Beach Police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from arrest reports.

•Mark T. Heckman, 45, of Little River, S.C.; charged with driving while impaired.

•Anthony Leavitt Cushing, 24, of Baltimore; charged with driving while impaired, speeding, and driving left of center.

•Gregory T. Skipper, 18, of Sunset Beach; charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a fictitious driver’s license.
