    Breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle parked on Baldwin Drive.

    Two-vehicle traffic crash at U.S. 17 and Grandiflora Drive resulting in property damage.

    Oct. 30

    Mark Dwayne Holden Jr., 25, was arrested on charges of driving while impaired and open container.

    Someone drove off from a Nicklaus Court residence but left items on top of the vehicle.

    Oct. 31

    Brandon Lee Helton, 20, was arrested on a simple assault charge.

    David S. Moody, 37, of 7229 Joe Brooks Road, Ocean Isle Beach, charged with shoplifting.

    Nov. 6

    Samuel A. Moody, 20, of 312 Kanawuha Trail, Longs, S.C., charged with assault on a female.

    Nov. 7

    Jonathan C. Powell, 34, of 1141 Indigo Circle, charged with criminal damage to property, failure to report accident.

    Kenya Assata Andrews was arrested on an order for arrest out of Brunswick County for minor traffic infractions.

    Obtaining property by fraudulent check; someone issued an Appleton Way resident a fraudulent check for an item listed for sale on Craigslist.

    Counterfeit currency; someone passed $500 in counterfeit $50 bills at Wal-Mart.

    Oct. 18

    Counterfeit currency; someone passing $500 in of counterfeit $50, $20 and $10 bills at Wal-Mart.

    Oct. 22

    Ralph Jeffrey Cumbie, 20, of Linkside Way SW, Ocean Isle Beach, was cited on a charge of shoplifting $15.68 in items from Wal-Mart.

    Ramone Cervantes-Juarez, 45, was arrested on a charge of driving while license revoked.

    Larceny of two riding lawn mowers worth $4,250 from Sears.

  • Cause of Calabash fire investigated

    The cause of a fire that broke out early last Saturday at a Calabash apartment complex is still under investigation.

    Firefighters were called to the 7136 building at The Tides at Calabash on Town Center Road off Old Georgetown Road at 2:35 a.m. Oct. 17.

    Damage was confirmed to a third-floor breezeway wall and ceiling, according to apartment management.

    Calabash Fire Chief Randy Bork lauded the complex’s external sprinkler system for quickly extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading.
