  • Shallotte crime report

    Shallotte Police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week.

    All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Officers arrested Lamarr Andre McDow, 23, of Tryon Road, Shallotte, on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

  • Leland crime report

    Leland Police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Pursuant to an investigation stop on Westover Drive, Timothy Donald Griffin, 19, of 106 Westover Drive, was cited and released for possession of stolen goods, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • County has first murder of the year

    LELAND—Three shots rang through the early-morning calm last Friday at a Leland home, one of them striking a 26-year-old man.

    Jerome Roberto Echlos died from a single gunshot wound to the chest at his Brandon Drive home around 3 a.m.

    Norris Tywynne Johnson, 26, also of 6786 Brandon Drive, has been charged with his murder, Brunswick County Sheriff Ronald Hewett said.

    According to Hewett, Johnson and his girlfriend drove to the Brandon Street home from her home in Clinton, where the two had been living. They arrived in Leland around 3 a.m.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering on Wilkes Street in Supply; suspect kicked in the back door of the victim’s residence.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny of a firearm on Sea Wind Court SW in Supply; suspect entered victim’s residence through a back door and stole a rifle, a PlayStation console, two PlayStation games, rings, gold chains, a watch, cash and bracelets.

  • Holden beach crime report

    The following incidents were investigated last week by Holden Beach police officers, which are taken directly from police incident/investigation reports:

    •Burglary and vandalism on Serenity Lane; suspect kicked in door of victim’s residence, damaging the door.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Swordfish Drive; suspect used residence and stole a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of vodka, binoculars and a key chain with two keys. The suspect also rented two Pay–Per–View movies.

  • Leland crime report

    Leland police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Old Forest Drive.

    •Credit card fraud on New Point Boulevard.

    •Breaking and entering, breaking and entering coin operating machine and larceny.

  • Ocean Isle Beach police report

    Ocean Isle Beach police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports:

    •Gabriel Garcia, 22, of Shallotte, was charged with no operator’s license at the Super Speed Track on N.C. 179.

    •Christopher Paul Kaoffman, 38, of Sunset Beach, was charged with driving while impaired on N.C. 179. According to the incident report, Kaoffman drove left of center, had red, glassy eyes, was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.

  • Sunset Beach crime report

    Sunset Beach police arrested a woman last week in connection with recent distribution of drugs.

    Margaret Dooley, 55, of 511 Live Oak Drive, Sunset Beach, was arrested Jan. 8 by Sunset Beach detective Woody Dunn and charged with two counts of selling a Schedule IV controlled substance.

  • Shallotte police report

    Shallotte police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports:

    • Police arrested Mark John Kelly, 34, of Ocean Haven Road, Ocean Isle Beach, on one count of felony larceny for stealing jewelry, a wallet, money, a pink bar of soap and tiber bar, a DVD player, a small craft hammer, a box of beads and a cheese spreader from a residence on Arnold Palmer Drive. He was taken to Brunswick County Detention Center and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
