  • Sunset Beach police investigate property incidents

    SUNSET BEACH—The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents reported in the past week.

    •A report of obtaining money/property by false pretense was made Nov. 5 on Live Oak Drive.

    •A report of breaking-and/or-entering and larceny was made Nov. 4 on Fairway Drive.

    •Lost property was reported Oct. 23 on Seaside Road.

    •Obtaining money/property by false pretense was reported Oct. 22 on Oyster Bay Drive.

  • Special Operations Report

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    Vandalism on Arnold Palmer Drive by someone damaging the golf greens.

    Stalking at Belk; suspect followed victim and harassed her.

    Larceny of a license plate on Whiteville Road.

    Larceny of computers on Main Street; suspect took two computers from Walmart without paying for them.

  • Sheriff’s Corner: Shopping Safety

    The busiest shopping time of the year is quickly approaching, and this is when criminal activity is on the rise. Prior to you or your family going shopping, everyone should discuss safety awareness.

    Always know where everyone is going and what time they will return. Designate different times to call each other while you are out. Prior planning will enhance safety awareness.

    Always go with someone if possible; being by yourself makes you an easier target for a criminal.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    Oct. 29

    Domestic assault and domestic communicate threats on Beach Drive in Ocean Isle Beach.

     

    Nov. 1

    Breaking-and-entering to a motor vehicle and larceny on Sunset Harbor Road in Bolivia; suspect stole a 17-caliber revolver handgun.

    Larceny of a solitaire diamond necklace on Lancaster Drive in Supply.

  • Police urge: Lock your vehicle even in your own driveway

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Sgt. Bert Reaves talked with members of the Brunswick County Community Watch group Monday about the need to lock vehicle doors.

    “There have been a rash of car breaking and enterings in the Carolina Shores area,” Reaves said.

    He told the group the recent car break-ins have been primarily on vehicles where the car doors are unlocked.

    “Please remember to lock your car doors. I can’t stress it enough,” he said.

  • Shallotte Police look for items stolen from business

    SHALLOTTE—Detectives with the Shallotte Police Department are seeking the public’s help in finding property stolen from a local business.

    On Wednesday, Oct. 24, a trailer and variety of lawn equipment were taken from behind Kimball’s Furniture at 4502 Main St.

    Detectives are looking for a 2005 or newer burgundy or red Ford Explorer that is believed to be involved. It was last seen heading in the direction of Holden Beach Road from the intersection near Walmart.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    Oct. 26

    No operator’s license on Holden Beach Road in Supply.

    Fraud with credit card at an automated teller on Beech Tree Drive in Southport.

    Vandalism on Sabbath Home Road in Supply; a custom made mailbox sign was damaged.

  • Crime Alert: Rash of car break-ins in Carolina Shores area

     

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives have recently been investigating numerous larcenies of items from unlocked vehicles in the Carolina Shores area. 

    Sheriff John Ingram is asking everyone to please remember to lock their vehicles and not to leave any valuables in them.

    A witness stated a white male, possibly 5 feet, 6 inches tall and wearing all black, was seen in a vehicle around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.
