  • Sunset Beach Police Department Jan. 24-26 2017

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrest. All information is taken directly from department reports.

    Jan. 24

    Breaking and entering on Creekview Drive; two TVs and several pieces of jewelry stolen. Two TVs have been recovered.

    Jan. 26

    Antaun L. Miller, 23, of Forrest Drive, Shallotte, charged with breaking and entering, felony larceny and injury to real property on Creekview Drive.

    Jan. 9

    Damage to a fuel line and larceny of a battery worth $200 from a construction site on Kay Todd Road.

    Larceny of a canoe worth $900 from an Atrium Way residence.

    Larceny of gas from a vehicle parked at Ocean Gate Plaza.

    Obtaining a $200 cell phone by false pretense.

    Jan. 10

    Larceny of a $150 cell phone from Wal-Mart.

    Shallotte police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the past two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    Jan. 13

    Property damage; someone caused $200 in damage to the driver’s side door of a vehicle parked in the Shallotte Post Office parking lot.

    Simple assault and larceny; someone shoved an employee out of the way while pushing a miter saw, worth $599, out of the Home Depot.

    Jan. 14

    Larceny of $60 from a Mulberry Street residence.

    Jan. 18

    Fake $100 bill passed at Sarah’s Kitchen.

    Jan. 20

    Breaking and entering reported at a house off Egret Drive where a laptop and TV were stolen.

    Cornelius T. Staton, 24, of Big Neck Road was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Onslow County.

    Jan. 21

    Someone took a Monster Energy Drink from Minuteman 14 store.

    Shallotte police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the past two weeks. All information is taken directly from incident and arrest reports.

    Jan. 1

    Larceny and obtaining property by false pretense, taking items off store shelves at Wal-Mart and exchanging them for a $236.67 gift card.

    Injury to real property by setting fire to a picnic table in Mulberry Park causing in $982 damage.

    Jan. 2

    Donna Nance Hurt, 57, was arrested on charges of larceny and trespassing.

    Christine Johnson, 27, of Monroe was arrested on possession of schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.

    Jan. 13

    Velazquez Guadalupe, 45, of Eastbrook Road was arrested on no operator’s license, no insurance and fictitious plates charges.

    Tucker Kimbaugh McGeoy Jr., 19, of Little Beaver Court, was cited on charges of possession of at least one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

    Cynthia Powell Boyd, 57, of Harrison, Tenn., was charged with DWI and an open container violation.

    Report of financial card theft on Third Street.

    Jan. 3

    Financial fraud reported at First Citizens Bank.

    Jan. 6

    Harassment reported on the beach strand.

  • Carter earns Advanced Service Award

    Officer Edward Houston Carter Jr. of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office was awarded the Advanced Service Award by the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission on Dec. 9, 2016. Carter was approved for this award for a total of 21.6 years of criminal justice service.
