  • Sunset Beach Police Report Dec. 25, 2014-Jan. 5, 2015

    The Sunset Beach Police Department made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents from Dec. 25 through Jan. 5. All information is taken directly from department reports.

    Dec. 25

    David M. Genter, 35, 1860 Sommersett Road, Ocean Isle Beach, charged with failure to pay child support.

    Dec. 29

    Breaking and entering reported on Canal Drive; nothing was taken.

    Breaking and entering, larceny of flat-screen TV reported at an address on East Main Street.

  • Two drivers charged with DWI in Calabash head-on crash

    Two Sunset Beach residents have been charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on collision involving each of their vehicles on Beach Drive in Calabash on Dec. 28.

    According to Trooper R.N. McDermott with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Chrysler minivan driven by Phillip Rushing, 53, of 8929 Carra Lane, Sunset Beach, was headed north when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and crossed the center line, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by James Crouthamel, 58, of 220 Azalea Circle, Sunset Beach.

    Dec. 16

    Austi Diana Swank, 19, arrested on a misdemeanor larceny charge.

    James Wesley Gray, 25, arrested on a misdemeanor larceny charge.

    Lorenzo Charles Pigott, 22, 3967 First St. SW, cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Dec. 12

    Vandalism; someone drove off from Minuteman gas station on Naber Drive with a gas hose still in vehicle, causing the pump connector, valued at $50, to break.

    Dec. 13

    Danny Nathaniel Grissett, 57, 985 Cedar Grove Road SW, Supply, cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Leland Police report

    Leland police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last three weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    Dec. 6

    Deandre Jamaris Braddy, 23, of Marion County, S.C., arrested on two counts of attempted murder warrants from Mullins, S.C., during a field interview on Bourbon Street and Westover Drive.

    Two-vehicle crash on Village Road at U.S. 17 South resulting in personal and property damage.

    Dec. 9

    Michael Glenn Fulcher, 53, of 1135 Park Road, Unit 3303, charged with assault on a female and communicating threats.

     

    Dec. 11

    Breaking and entering, larceny of a television, injury to real property on East Main Street.

    Nov. 27

    Larceny; Wal-Mart loss prevention personnel saw a juvenile steal merchandise from the business. Juvenile was cited and released.

    Two-vehicle crash on Village Road resulting in personal and property damage.

    Nov. 28

    David Cosme, 38, 1227 High St., Shallotte, cited and released for stealing merchandise from Wal-Mart on New Pointe Boulevard.

    Breaking and entering, property damage and larceny from a coin-operated machine at West Brunswick High School on Whiteville Road, causing $900 damage.

    Embezzlement/larceny by employee; someone at Belk at Shallotte Crossing Parkway transferred $500 from one deposit bag to another.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Police report

    Ocean Isle Beach police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last month. All information is taken directly from incident and arrest reports.

    Nov. 10

    Breaking and entering a vending machine at the Winds Resort on East First Street.

    Nov. 29

    Property damage; someone drove into the flowerbed at Ocean Isle Inn on West First Street, crushing four plants valued at $150.

    Dec. 2

    Larceny of $180 from a safe at Subway on Causeway Drive.

    Larceny of a laptop computer, charger and cellular phone valued at $500 from a Main Street residence.

    Nov. 28

    William Edward Bell, 44, arrested on charges of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute heroin and misdemeanor littering.

    Breaking and entering and larceny of $565 from a Cheers Street business.
