    May 12

    Antaun Lanier Miller, 20, 128 Forest Drive, arrested on a charge of misdemeanor larceny.

    Larceny of medication from an apartment on Main Street.

    Larceny from Duffer’s Restaurant. Suspect huffed CO2 out of canisters at restaurant.

    Vandalism, vehicle damaged in parking lot of Home Depot.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department reports May 12-May 18 2014

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests. All information is taken directly from police reports.

     

    May 13

    Joshua Scott Todd, 26, of 1115 Captains Court, Calabash, was arrested on larceny and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense warrants.

     

    May 14

    Larceny of landscaping lights reported on High Market Street.

     

    May 15

    Larceny of fishing equipment reported on 38th Street.

    Demontray Hill, 24, 671 McMilly Road NW, arrested on charges of felony fleeing or eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession of a schedule II controlled substance, oxycodone, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

    May 6

    Larceny of a trailer, valued at $2,000, taken from the back property of Jumpin’ Java on Main Street.

    Breaking and entering and larceny by someone who broke into a residence on Shelmore Way to steal construction supplies.

    May 6

    Breaking and entering and property damage by someone who entered an unsecured residence on Cresthill Court and causing damage inside the home.

    During the month of April, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 130 calls: five structure fires, three fire

    alarms, six motor vehicle accidents, 14 public assistance calls and 102 EMS first-response calls.

    Larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny from a motor vehicle were reported at an address on Royal Poste Road.

    Emily Megan Buffkin, 20, 159 Big Branch Road, Delco, cited for stolen merchandise from Walmart.

    Jonathan Paul Johnson, 29, 220 Greenview Drive, Wilmington, arrested on warrants from New Hanover County.

    Larceny by someone entering a Hevener Street residence and stealing property.

    May 1

    Samuel Kevin Hollingsworth, 42, 2496 Bella Coola Road, Lake Waccamaw, arrested on a charge of misdemeanor larceny after he was caught concealing items from Walmart on his person, then leaving the store.

    Phone scam by someone calling the resident of a home on Country Club Drive and requesting money.

  • Sunset Beach councilman charged with DWI

    A Sunset Beach town councilman is scheduled for a June 4 court appearance on a driving while impaired charge.

    Sunset Beach Town Councilman Mike Williams was charged with DWI by the North Carolina Highway Patrol following a traffic stop in Calabash on Feb. 1.

    According to a report, Williams was observed driving left of center at 9:09 p.m. on N.C. 179 at Beach Drive with “red, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.”
