    July 29

    Improper backing and hit and run after colliding with another vehicle on Village Road.

    Larceny of $79.98 in of Red Bull energy drinks from Wal-Mart on New Pointe Boulevard.

    Trespassing at Best Western motel on Town Lake Drive.

    July 31

    Breaking and entering a motor vehicle, causing $200 in damage to the door.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department Aug. 7-11 2017

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests.

    Aug. 7

    Breaking and entering and felony larceny of several TVs and other items on West Main Street.

    Aug. 9

    Breaking and entering of motor vehicle reported at Food Lion. Subject pulled up in what appeared to be a small pickup and took a Stihl weed trimmer and blower out of the back of victim’s truck.

    Aug. 11

    Employee theft reported at Food Lion.

    July 31

    Fraudulent checks cashed at Alex Wireless on Holden Beach Road for $650.

    Aug. 1

    Henry Toby Cole, 34, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, simple possession of a schedule III controlled substance and simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department Aug. 1-4 2017

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incident and made the following arrests. All information is taken directly from incident and arrest reports.

    Aug. 1

    Michael Ross Trent, 46, of Forrest Acres Lane, Chester, Va., was arrested on a charge of resisting a public officer after police were called to a fight on West Main Street.

    Aug. 2

    Brent Richard Hinson, 27, of Royal Poste Road was arrested on a drug paraphernalia possession charge.

    Stolen license plate reported at 35th Street.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department July 25-26 2017

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents. All information is taken directly from incident reports.

    July 25

    Someone stole a victim’s credit card, cash and a blower from Bartlett Lane, then took the credit card to a local business and used it to buy several items. Warrants have been issued for the thief, who was caught on camera and identified by victim.

    July 26

    Bike reported stolen from under a house at West Main Street.

  • Missing teen found

    A missing 16-year-old has been found and is back home.

    Sunset Beach police reported Monday afternoon Kamron Michael Normansell has been safely located.

    Normansell had been missing from a residence on Twisted Oak Lane in Sunset Beach since July 29.

    Normansell’s grandfather said he spoke with his grandson about 3 p.m. Saturday and hadn’t seen or heard from him since.

    Sunset Beach police made the following arrests and investigated the following incident.

    July 18

    Allan Joseph Jeanetti, 66, of 705 Dogwood Drive, Sunset Beach, arrested for driving while impaired.

    July 19

    Timothy Daniel Helfrich, 31, of 112 Phillips Lane, McKees Rocks, Pa., charged with communicating threats.

    July 21

    Ashley Amber Johnson, 26, of 2384 Ralshore St., Supply, charged with driving while license revoked and expired tags.

    Wallet reported lost or stolen at the Sunset Beach Town Park.

  • Man charged in Sunset Beach kidnapping

    Sunset Beach police have arrested a 27-year-old man in a kidnapping reported July 10 at a local convenience store.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department July 14-16 2017

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    July 14

    Breaking and entering and larceny of a set of golf clubs and a GPS from two different vehicles on Sixth Street. Warrants have been issued.

    July 16

    Breaking and entering and larceny reported on Ocean Harbour Golf Club Drive, where someone got inside a home, threw a party and took several items. Warrants have been issued.

  • Calabash Fire Department, June 2017

    During the month of June 2017, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 173 calls: two structure fires, three woods/brush fires, 10 fire alarms, five motor vehicle accidents, one gas leak, one investigation, three mutual aid, 38 public assistance, two other and 108 EMS first-response calls.
