    Sunset Beach Police Department

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests.

    June 24

    John Bozeman 25, of Saint Andrews Drive, Wilmington, was issued a citation on a charge of concealed weapon, which was seized.

    June 26

    James Eppard 36, of WWG Lane NW, Ocean Isle Beach, was issued a citation on a shoplifting charge and banned from Food Lion.

    June 28

    Stolen vehicle reported on Queen Anne Street. Vehicle recovered from local towing company.

    Larceny of a $1,200 riding lawn mower from Wal-Mart on new Pointe Boulevard.

    June 21

    Simple assault and misdemeanor larceny of $40 in a parking lot on Reed Road.

    Larceny of a purse from a shopping cart and obtaining property by false pretenses at Wal-Mart on Main Street.

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrest.

    June 19

    Someone pumped gas at the Market Express and drove off.

    June 21

    Someon came into the Minuteman 14 and stole several items.

    June 24

    Roger Wilson, 58, of Euclid in Rockford, Ill., was cited on a simple possession of marijuana charge.

    June 14

    Found property in the area of a gun shop in Seaside. Property was returned to victim.

    June 15

    Theft of $210 from purse at Head to Toe Salon.

    Breaking and entering and damage to floor tiles at a new home under construction at 1307 E. Main St.

    June 16

    Property damage; someone broke out rear window of a vehicle parked in driveway at 420 Second St.

    June 8

    Unknown children threw rocks, causing damage to vehicle in an area of Canal Street.

    June 10

    Larceny of a wallet from a vehicle on Chandlers Lane.

    June 11

    Theft of a hand power pole from a boat on 30th Street.

  • Rip Current Awareness Week observed

    North Carolina and South Carolina observed Rip Current Awareness Week, June 4-10.

    Rip current and beach safety information was sent through National Weather Service Wilmington social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, during the week.

    Two interns with New Hanover County Emergency Management will be stationed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Fort Fisher Aquarium during World Ocean Day and Friday, June 9, at Fort Fisher State Park to provide rip current information to the public.

  • Sunset Beach Police Deartment May 31-June 3, 2017

    The Sunset Beach Police Department made the following arrests.

    May 31

    Jaime Urbanski, 39, of Stone Cutter Drive was arrested on an outstanding driving while impaired warrant.

    June 1

    Amber Mintz 18, of Shallotte Point Loop Road, Shallotte, was arrested on a larceny by employee charge.

    June 2

    Chelsey L. Moore 26, of Ellison Court, Greenville, was cited on charges of simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Calabash Fire Department, May 2017

    During the month of May, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 164 calls: two structure fires, three woods/brush fires, eight fire alarms, 11 motor vehicle accidents, 31 public assistance, two mutual aid and 107 EMS first-response calls.
