    March 1

    Andrew Joseph Williams, 45, 55 Black Rock Road, Warwick, N.Y., outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

    Keith Allen Simmons, 28, 9097 Timber Lane, outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

  • Abandoned dog left near death in foreclosed home

    A Brunswick County woman faces charges after investigators say she left a dog locked in a cage without food or water for several weeks.

    An Australian shepherd mix was found alone inside a foreclosed home in Leland on Feb. 22. A real estate agent was changing the locks on the house when the dog was found.

    Leland animal control and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services (BCAPS) officials rescued the dog.

    According to officials, the dog was locked in a wire crate, severely dehydrated and malnourished.

  • Husband and wife arrested for drugs, sexual battery

    A husband and wife are in jail for conspiring to sell opium. The husband also has been charged with sexual battery and soliciting a crime against nature.

    The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Task Force arrested Dargon Lewis Parker and Julia Grandy Parker on March 5 at their Calabash home.

    According to warrants, the Parkers conspired to sell opium and hydrocodone and were in possession of 28 grams or more of opium. They sold 15 10-miligram hydrocodone tablets to an undercover agent.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    March 5

    Larceny of dog food, dog treats, dental dog treats, dog pills for eating grass, vitamin dog toothpaste and a dog harness at Ace Hardware on Beach Drive, Calabash.

    Assault on a female on Old King Road, Ash.

    Larceny of a wallet and fraud at Handee Hugo on East Ocean Highway, Winnabow.

    Larceny of a motor vehicle, yellow extended cab truck with a black hood, on Industrial Boulevard, Leland.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    Counterfeit currency at Walmart; a counterfeit $5 bill was found in a register.

    Worthless check on Owendon Drive; suspect gave victim a worthless check.

  • Special Operations Report

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team. The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From March 4 through March 10, special operations deputies charged the following suspects:

    Michael A. Smith, 26, 120 West 9th Street, Southport, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Sunset Beach police report

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests.

    Breaking-and-entering and larceny of a television were reported March 6 at an address on North Shore Drive East.

    Larceny of jewelry was reported March 7 at a unit at 814 Colony Place.

    Patrick Carson Herr, 25, 8709 Fieldgate Drive, Charlotte, charged Feb. 26 with driving while impaired (DWI).

    Shay Gales, 21, 1738 Seaside Road, Sunset Beach, charged March 7 with assault on a female and communicating threats.

    Stephanie Moore Williams, 40, 338 Ventura, misdemeanor shoplifting.

    Feb. 28

    Breaking and entering with forcible entry, larceny from buildings and vandalism; suspect entered a house on Ocean Boulevard West and took surfboards, fishing gear and electronic equipment valued at more than $3,600.
