  • Special Operations Report

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team. The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Feb. 18-24, special operations deputies set up checkpoints on McLamb Road, Persimmon Road, No. 5 School Road, the new Oak Island Bridge, Blue Banks Road and Northwest Road.

  • Sheriff’s Corner: Eliminating impaired drivers is a community effort

    I, along with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, was recently honored by North Carolina’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) with the 2012 Eastern N.C. Sheriff Award.

    I am very proud and honored to be recognized by this organization that works tirelessly to eliminate impaired drivers from our roadways across North Carolina.

    The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is committed to putting forth that same hard work and effort.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

     

    Feb. 17

    Lost cellular phone at the Kangaroo in Shallotte.

     

    Feb. 19

    Christopher Harold Henry, 30, 1557 Bluff Drive, Leland, larceny and conspiracy.

    George Steven Rhodes, 44, 281 Ocean Highway W., Supply, trespassing, larceny and conspiracy.

     

  • Sheriff's Office Crime Report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    Feb. 15

    Trespassing on Riverview Drive, Calabash.

     

    Feb. 18

    Vandalism and larceny of a cell phone and $60 cash from a motor vehicle on Devane Road, Shallotte.

    Burglary with forcible entry and vandalism on 1228 Fence Post Lane, Calabash.

    Vandalism on Trinton Road, Jaguar’s Lair Golf Course, Sunset Beach.

  • Sunset Beach police report

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents.

    On Feb. 22, power and hand tools were reported stolen from a residence on Elderberry Lane.

    On Feb. 23, police took a report of injury to real property at a unit at 818 Shoreline Drive West. The front door jamb and doorframe were broken, but no entry was made nor was anything reported stolen.

  • Sunset Beach police investigate jewelry theft

    Sunset Beach police are investigating a reported theft of jewelry belonging to a Bolivia woman.

    Ten pieces of assorted jewelry valued at $15,575 were reported removed from the woman’s jewelry box on Feb. 17.

    The jewelry box had been left for safekeeping with the woman’s 23-year-old stepson at his residence in a condominium unit at 228 Clubhouse Road.

    Assault on a female communicating a threat on Pinebur Circle, Sunset Beach.

     

    Feb. 13

    Larceny of a RV power cord on Holden Beach Road, Supply.

    Larceny of a RV power cord and vandalism on Holden Beach Road, Supply.

    Larceny of a 40-foot ladder on Oakwest Street, Shallotte.

    Missing juvenile on Warren Landing, Supply.

  • Sheriff's Corner: Second Amendment

    Recently I have received a number of inquiries regarding my position on the second amendment of the Constitution.

    As Sheriff of Brunswick County, I took an oath to support and defend the United States and North Carolina constitutions. The citizens of Brunswick County entrusted their office of Sheriff to me. I will not act inconsistent with my oath, nor will I allow anyone or group to infringe upon the rights of the citizens of Brunswick County afforded by the Constitution.

    Larceny of cash at Golden Corral; suspect grabbed $45 cash from the top of the cash register.

     

    Feb. 14

    Larceny of a briefcase with wheels from Home Depot; suspect carried the briefcase out of the store without paying for it.
