    While the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, along with our law enforcement colleagues throughout the county, work hard to reduce crime, the state still spends more than a billion dollars on corrections.

  • Sunset Beach police report

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests.

    Breaking-and-entering and larceny of a television were reported March 6 at an address on North Shore Drive East.

    Larceny of jewelry was reported March 7 at a unit at 814 Colony Place.

    Patrick Carson Herr, 25, 8709 Fieldgate Drive, Charlotte, charged Feb. 26 with driving while impaired (DWI).

    Shay Gales, 21, 1738 Seaside Road, Sunset Beach, charged March 7 with assault on a female and communicating threats.

    Feb. 25

    Jamie Beth Eversole, 30, 231 Green Hill Road NE, Winnabow; misdemeanor shoplifting.

    Stephanie Moore Williams, 40, 338 Ventura, misdemeanor shoplifting.

  • Holden Beach Police report

    Feb. 28

    Breaking and entering with forcible entry, larceny from buildings and vandalism; suspect entered a house on Ocean Boulevard West and took surfboards, fishing gear and electronic equipment valued at more than $3,600.

  • Sheriff’s Corner: Pistol purchase permit application online

    I am pleased to announce the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has added a new link to our website.

    Citizens now have the option to apply for gun purchase permits easily and conveniently from their home computers.

    Our goal was to streamline the process and make it as simple as possible for citizens.

  • Special Operations Report

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team. The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Feb. 25-March 3, special operations deputies set up checkpoints on Hickman Road, Pea Landing Road, Shoreline Drive, N.C. 211 and Snowfield Road. Deputies also patrolled the Navassa area.

    Feb. 23

    Property damage in Big Lots parking lot; a shopping cart collided with the victim’s car causing $500 damage to the front fender.

    Child custody violation on Cheers Street; suspect violated a child custody agreement.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Police nab thief

    OCEAN ISLE BEACH—After several weeks of investigation, the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department, working in conjunction with the South End Task Force, has arrested a man believed to be involved in a recent rash of larcenies of golf-cart batteries on the island.

    Thomas Jason Swann, 33, of 511 N. 4th St., St. Pauls, was arrested on Feb. 25. Detectives with the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department traveled to St. Pauls and took Swann into custody.

  • Navassa man wounded in shooting

    A Navassa man is recovering after a shooting last Thursday.

    The Brunswick County 911 call center received a call on Feb. 28 that a person had been shot in the 500 block of Plum Street in Navassa.

    When Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found Kenneth Donell Moore with a gunshot wound to his hip area. Moore was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

    Officials said his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

  • More than $7,000 in cash, cocaine, marijuana netted in road block

    A recent drug bust in Brunswick County has netted 56.8 grams of cocaine and 1,798 grams of marijuana.

    On Tuesday, Feb. 26, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Darren Pratt, 30, of 180 McNeil Chapel Road, Longs, S.C. He was arrested at a checkpoint set up on U.S. 17 and Pea Landing Road, Ash.

    Deputies seized $7,490 in cash, 56.8 grams of cocaine and 1,798 grams of marijuana from Pratt.
