    Jan. 5

    Two-vehicle crash on Village Road resulting in minor injuries.

    Hit and run by an unknown driver who struck a vehicle on U.S. 17.

    Jan. 6

    Anthony Walker arrested during a traffic stop on Village Road for driving while his license was suspended.

    Breaking and entering and larceny of heavy equipment batteries from a Village Road site.

    Derrick Daniel Delahunt, 30, arrested on an order for arrest on a probation violation.

    Robbery, assault and assault on a female at the Shallotte Crossing Parkway Dollar Tree.

    Jan. 5

    Andrea Latisha Bellamy, 40, 2450 DL Drive, Little River, S.C., cited for possession of one-half ounce of marijuana.

    Larceny of a debit/credit card from Captain Pete’s.

    December 11

    Breaking and entering – forcible entry, vandalism and larceny from a building by someone breaking a rear window at a residence on Ocean Boulevard West and stealing a 42 inch flat screen television, valued at $500.

    Ricky Devon Hill, 37, arrested on felony charge of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

    Vandalism by someone backing a vehicle into a utility trailer, causing $6,000 worth of damage.

    Breaking and entering a motor vehicle by suspect entering a tow truck to lower his vehicle.

    Traffic crash on Village Road, two vehicles were involved in a traffic crash resulting in property damage.

    Traffic crash on US 17 South, two vehicles were involved in a traffic crash resulting in property damage.

    Traffic crash on Village Road by someone backing their vehicle into the victim’s parked car, resulting in property damage.

  • Calabash Volunteer Fire Department report for December 2014

    During December 2014, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 158 calls, including seven structure fires, one vehicle fire, one trash fire, seven fire alarms, seven motor vehicle accidents, seven public assistance calls, two other, and 126 EMS first-response calls.

    During 2014, the Calabash Fire Department responded to a total of 1,858 calls, an increase of 319 calls over 2013, according to department spokeswoman Honey Shore.

    Dec. 25

    David M. Genter, 35, 1860 Sommersett Road, Ocean Isle Beach, charged with failure to pay child support.

    Dec. 29

    Breaking and entering reported on Canal Drive; nothing was taken.

    Breaking and entering, larceny of flat-screen TV reported at an address on East Main Street.

  • Two drivers charged with DWI in Calabash head-on crash

    Two Sunset Beach residents have been charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on collision involving each of their vehicles on Beach Drive in Calabash on Dec. 28.

    According to Trooper R.N. McDermott with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Chrysler minivan driven by Phillip Rushing, 53, of 8929 Carra Lane, Sunset Beach, was headed north when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and crossed the center line, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by James Crouthamel, 58, of 220 Azalea Circle, Sunset Beach.
