  • Sunset Beach police make arrests, look into larceny

    The Sunset Beach Police Department has arrested two people in the past week.

    Laura Dorothy Kong, 44, of Sunset Beach, was charged March 21 with driving while impaired (DWI).

    Russell Dean Hunt, 34, of Pembroke, was arrested during a traffic stop and charged on several felony and misdemeanor warrants out of several different counties.

    On March 24, police took a report of a breaking-and-entering and larceny of a storage shed on Dogwood Drive.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports from March 20-25:

    •Larceny on Taft Road in Supply; suspect stole registration tag from victim’s vehicle.

    •Medication collected on Doctor’s Circle in Supply; subject turned in medication to medical faculty.

    •Found property on Turkey Trap Road in Supply; suspect found a black iPhone with an Otter case near Turkey Trap Road.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Larceny on Birch Pond Drive; someone took the cash box with $280 inside.

    •Assault at a restaurant on Whiteville Road; suspect assaulted the victim.

    •Kyle Thomas Powers, 17, of 9280 Landing Drive, Calabash was charged with assault.

    •Bradley Wayne Gibson of Lakewood Drive, Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with careless and reckless driving at the Ocean Isle Beach Park on Old Georgetown Road

    •Joshua Lewis of Thrush Court, Calabash, was charged with DWI after traveling left of center.

  • Homeless man arrested for failure to appear

    Sunset Beach police arrested a homeless man last week on failure-to-appear warrants.
    Jason Edward Furr, 38, was charged by the department on March 15.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •At 6:53 p.m., Sunday, March 11, a vehicle traveling on East Second Street lost control and struck the residence at 2 Monroe St., causing minor damage to the residence.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    •Michelle Ashley Boahn, 29, of 5401 N.C. Highway 210, Stedman, was charged with shoplifting at Walmart.

    •Kiana Malika Galloway, 22, of 816 Fulton St., Reidsville, was charged with failure to appear on charges of injury to real property. Galloway was picked up at Birch Pond apartments on an outstanding warrant.
