  • Sunset Beach man charged for stealing metal items

    SUNSET BEACH—A Sunset Beach man was arrested Monday and charged in connection with recent thefts of metal items from residences.

    Michael Lee Marti, 416 Stokes Drive, was charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny. More charges may be pending, Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said.

    In a separate incident, larceny of a laptop computer was reported Nov. 28 at a house on Lakeshore Drive.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.
    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Shallotte Boulevard; suspect broke into house.

    •Larceny on East First Street; suspect removed boat trailer registration tag from yard.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident, accident and arrest reports.

    •Robert Stokes, 40, of 4918 Lakewood Dr. SW, was charged with larceny after stealing an 18-pack of beer from Scotchman’s store. He was found consuming the stolen alcohol behind the building. He fled on from officers until he dropped to his knees in Shallotte Cleaner’s parking lot.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Property damage on Black Chestnut Drive in Leland; suspect threw a rock through victim’s back window.

    •Property damage on Pearl Boulevard in Calabash; suspect cut victim’s trees and burned bushes.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Long Beach Road in Southport; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole a pocketbook.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Nov. 15-21, K-9 deputies answered 12 calls, wrote five citations and made six drug arrests. Deputies patrolled the following communities: Seashore Hills and Brunswick Forest.

    K-9 deputies charged the following suspects:

    •Janice Michelle Evans, 35, of 7299 Carlon Road, Longwood, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for having a crack pipe.

  • Home invasion reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police are investigating a home invasion and thefts reported Friday night, Nov. 19, in Sunset Beach.

    Two males, one of them masked, entered a condominium on Queen Anne Street and allegedly threatened the victims with a silver-plated revolver, Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said.

    Money, a cell phone and marijuana were reported stolen.

    Smith said on Monday no warrants had been drawn but probably are soon coming.
