  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Burglary and larceny on Creekwood Court in Supply; suspect pried open victim’s front door of residence and outbuilding and stole a computer, two fishing rods, a trolling motor, a .22-caliber rifle, a hammer drill and a sawzaw.

    •Burglary and larceny on Cedar Landing Road in Supply; suspect entered victim’s residence and stole medication.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Dec. 7-11, ACE deputies issued performed 26 traffic stops, resulting in 66 total traffic violations. Deputies also made seven arrests. 

    ACE deputies set up checkpoints at U.S. 17 on the state line, Trade Street, Village Road, Leland School Road, Grey Bridge Road, Lincoln Road and Mount Misery Road.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Country Club Drive in Shallotte; suspect stole two lawn decorations—a ceramic pelican and a plastic Santa—from victim’s front lawn.

    •Larceny of a motor vehicle on Oak West Drive in Shallotte; suspect took victim’s vehicle with the intent not to return it.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Harassing telephone calls at Azio Media Used Books & Records on Smith Avenue; suspect called once to complain.

    •Breaking and entering an automobile and larceny from a motor vehicle on Country Club Drive; suspect took a car stereo, a dashboard, wiring to the stereo and the front bumper of a Ford Ranger.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

     The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Ebelia Torres, 19, of 1060 Hickman Road, Calabash, was arrested for underage drinking.

    •Karine Rudy, 18, of 1061 Cedar Court, Calabash, was arrested for underage drinking.

    •Leslie Johnson, 17, of 417 79th Ave. N, Myrtle Beach, S.C., was arrested for underage drinking.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny of currency at Harley Davidson; suspect took $238.65 from the register and the register key.

    •Shoplifting at Family Dollar; suspect took a digital video camera and an empty box from the store without paying for the items.

    •Animal cruelty on Pine Street; police are investigating an incidence of animal cruelty.

  • DWI arrests made in Sunset Beach

    Five people were arrested on driving while impaired charges last week.

    •Merrick Joseph Kacer, 37, of 226 Sea Trail Drive West, Sunset Beach, was charged with DWI on Nov. 27.

    •Teresa Mendez Ramirez, 41, of 6749 Beach Drive, Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with DWI on Nov. 26.

    •Laura Singleton Jenkins, 43, of 716 Pebblebrook Drive, Raleigh, was charged with DWI on Nov. 25.

    •Shelly Lynn Yates, 49, of 7185 Westbrook Ave., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged DWI on Nov. 23.

  • Holden Beach man pleads guilty to indecent exposure

    A Holden Beach man has pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure for a 2010 incident.

    Assistant District Attorney Meredith Everhart said Benjamin Stroup Korb, 48, of Holden Beach, pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure in Brunswick County Superior Court on Monday, Nov. 28, via an Alford plea.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Motor vehicle theft on Sweetbay Drive in Southport; suspect stole victim’s vehicle from driveway.

    •Larceny on Waterview Lane in Calabash; suspect stole medication from victim’s home.

    •Vandalism and larceny on Sourwood Court in Leland; suspect damaged victim’s property and stole a TV, computer tower and cable box.

  • Seven drivers arrested for DWI over Thanksgiving holiday

    BOLIVIA—Members of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team arrested seven suspects for driving while impaired over the Thanksgiving holiday.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. ACE deputies issued 61 total charges from Nov. 21-27.

    ACE deputies charged the following suspects:

    •Frank Pruitt, 54, of 1530 Hickman Road, Calabash, was charged with DWI and no operator’s license.
