  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Possessing/concealing stolen property on Heights Place in Leland on May 11.

    •Burglary, larceny and vandalism on Sikes Street in Winnabow on May 11.

    •Burglary on Robin Drive in Shallotte on May 11.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and vandalism on Boones Neck Road SW in Supply on May 11.

    •Vandalism on Swain Street in Bolivia on May 11.

  • Arrests, thefts in Sunset Beach

    Sunset Beach police made the following arrests and investigations.

    •Hakeem Javon Reaves, 20, of 9803 Ash-Little River Road, Ash, was charged May 6 with resisting a public officer.

    •Phyllis Pigford Smith, 52, of 1733 Atkinson St., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged May 5 with DWI.

    •Karen Valade Gerlits, 29, of 4269 Mica Drive, Little River, S.C., was charged May 5 with DWI and failure to comply with driver’s license restriction.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    The Shallotte police department office is closed to the public while the building undergoes renovations. Anyone wishing to speak to an officer or obtain a copy of a police report must go to the Southend Task Force building at 130 Cheers St. The number to reach the police department is 754-6008.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Larceny and forgery on Valley Drive in Calabash on May 6.

    •Larceny from a motor vehicle on River Road in Leland on May 4; suspect stole victim’s iPad 2 from vehicle.

    •Fraud on Galloway Road in Bolivia on May 4.

    •Vandalism on Ash-Little River Road in Ash on May 4; suspect cut hole in ATMC’s perimeter fence.

  • Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From April 30-May 6 special operations set up checkpoints on Belville School Road, Mount Misery Road, N.C. 133, Green Loop Road, N.C. 179, Lincoln Road, N.C. 904, Old Georgetown Road and Middleton Road.

  • Arrests made during routine Sunset Beach stops

    SUNSET BEACH—Town police have arrested two men during routine traffic patrol.

    David Michael Sabatell, 22, of 1031 Fayetteville Ave., Calabash, was arrested April 29 by Sunset Beach police on outstanding warrants for trespassing.

    Mark Robert Huelle, 42, of 211 Clubhouse Road, Sunset Beach, was arrested April 23 on outstanding warrants for felony habitual impaired driving.

    Police also investigated the following reported incidents involving larceny.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit made the following arrests last week:

    •Joseph Matthew Locklear, 29, of 808 Carolina St., Calabash, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine, manufacture methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Locklear was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $35,000 secured bond.

    From April 23-29, special operations set up checkpoints on Ash-Little River Road, Lincoln Road, U.S. 74 and Mount Misery Road. Deputies issued cited 23 drivers for speeding.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Larceny, vandalism and motor vehicle theft on Pin Fish Street in Supply on April 28; suspect stole victim’s vehicle and money.

    •Burglary, larceny and vandalism on Beach Drive in Ocean Isle Beach on April 28; suspect stole money.

    •Burglary and vandalism on Brooks Landing in Supply on April 28.

    •Larceny on Fayetteville Avenue in Calabash on April 28; suspect stole assorted jewelry from victim.
