  • Sheriff’s office searching for man wanted for robbery, assault

    Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a suspect wanted for robbery and assault.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley said detectives are searching for Michael Anthony Williams, 21. Williams has been charged with two counts of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault on a handicapped person.

  • Two suspects arrested for multiple break-ins, firearm larcenies in Supply area

    Officers with the Brunswick County south-end task force recently arrested two suspects for multiple breaking-and-entering cases in the Supply area.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 20, a Shallotte Police officer initiated a routine traffic investigation, which led to the recovery of multiple firearms and rifle magazines.

    Stanley said the property had been reported stolen from various residences in the Seashore Road area of Supply between Feb. 11 and March 12.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From March 20-27, K-9 deputies issued 16 citations and made nine drug arrests.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Alexander James Stonebrook, 17, of 3548 Aycock Court, Leland, was charged with possession of one-half ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •John Daniel Thompson, 42, of 347 Cape Fear Blvd., Wilmington, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit searched a residence at 641 Sandy Bluff Drive in Supply on March 24.

    During the search, drug agents seized 366 grams of marijuana, 19 Alprazolam pills, one Hydrocodone pill, eight firearms including several assault rifles and more than $1,000 in cash.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office ACE Roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.
    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Dedriana Bryant, 16, of 7638 Victory Drive, Longwood, was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart after pushing a shopping cart with $258.52 worth of items from the business.

  • Leland councilman charged with domestic violence

    A Leland councilman has been arrested and charged with domestic violence.

    According to Leland Police Chief Timothy Jayne, Herbert Barnes, a Leland councilman, was arrested Saturday, March 19, and charged with assault on a female and domestic violence.

    Jayne said police officers were dispatched to a 911 call for service involving a report of domestic violence last Saturday. After officers spoke with the victim and gathered evidence concerning the alleged assault, police located and arrested Barnes, who was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit arrested a Tabor City man in Shallotte on several drug charges last week.

    During the arrest, agents seized 90 Percocet tablets.

  • Detectives search for two armed robbery suspects

    Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for two male suspects who were involved in an armed robbery in the Calabash area early Tuesday morning.

    Around 5:15 a.m. March 15, two suspects entered Calabash Internet Café, at 1224 River View Drive, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer April Stanley said.

    The suspects concealed their identities with masks, and forced employees to hand over an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the business.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Lost wallet at the Citgo in Calabash; victim said he misplaced his wallet.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Little Macedonia Road in Supply; suspect entered victim’s residence and damaged screen and doorjamb.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on Winter Street in Supply; suspect pried open victim’s side door and stole TV.
