    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office charged the following suspects:

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Property damage on Green Hill Road in Winnabow; suspect knocked down victim’s mailboxes with vehicle.

    •Property damage on Green Hill Road in Winnabow; suspect ran off road and damaged victim’s mailbox.

    •Property damage on Green Hill Road in Winnabow; suspect ran off the road with vehicle and knocked down victim’s mailbox.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.
    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Burglary in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—A break-in was reported Jan. 9 at a villa on Kings Trail.

    Someone entered through a back door. Jewelry and $300 cash were among items reported stolen.

  • Lakewood Estates incident under investigation

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an alleged New Year’s Day assault in the Lakewood Estates neighborhood near Ocean Isle Beach.

    According to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office incident report, assault inflicting serious injury was reported on Lakewood Drive around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.

    The report states “subjects dragged victim 1 out of vehicle and assaulted him.”

  • Ocean Isle Beach Police Department

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on Union Street; suspect kicked door under the house to gain entry and took three flat-screen TVs, fishing equipment, a cordless telephone and computer printer.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on East Fourth Street; suspect entered garage and home and took fishing poles and nets, a deep dryer and tools.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Dec. 27, 2010-Jan. 2, 2010, K-9 deputies answered 15 calls, wrote 11 citations and made 11 drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies charged the following suspects:

    •Robert W. Long, 62, of 5217 Project Road, Ash, was charged with possession of cocaine.

    •Louis Damone Knight, 35, of 21 Shady Loop Road, Bolivia, was charged with possession of one-half ounce or less of marijuana and assault on a female.

  • Leland woman still missing; teen returns home

    A Leland woman reported missing last week is still missing, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said Tuesday.

    A teen also reported missing last week has returned home safely, Stanley said.

    Seventeen-year-old John Kevin Watts II of Supply was reported missing Dec. 29, but has since returned home safely, she said.

    Robin Michelle Mitchell, 38, of Leland, is still missing. Mitchell was reported missing Dec. 27, but was last seen in November.

    •Assault on Caudill Lane; suspect harmed two victims with a weapon.

    •Assault on Old Oak Road in Ash; suspect cut victim with a knife causing minor injuries.

    •Assault on Lakewood Drive in Shallotte; suspect dragged victim out of vehicle.

    •Assault on Butler Road in Ash; suspect attacked victim.
