The Lees-McRae College women’s soccer team is slated to play a challenging schedule this fall, including four opponents that have advanced to the NCAA Tournament at least once over the last two seasons.
On Aug. 1 at Farmstead, Joe Meo, John Methvin, Bob Jaeger and a draw placed first with a 144. Format for the day was cha-cha-cha. In second was the team of Sid Pennington, Steve Maiorca, Cliff Musselman and Joe Gallo.
Right now the fish being targeted the most by Brunswick County inshore anglers is the flounder. That is because during the heat of summer, flounder can often be caught during the day, unlike many fish such as speckled trout or redfish, which stage more of a morning or nighttime bite, if they bite at all.
This has been a brutal summer thus far and it’s not over yet.

HOLDEN BEACH--In a rare split vote, Holden Beach Commissioners approved spending up to $20,000 for a par course [a series of fitness stations] to be built between Greensboro and Scotch Bonnet streets.
Commissioners purchased that tract of land at the turn of the year.
