    Mole problems seem to be on the rise. Tunnels and more tunnels everywhere you turn, what can be done? How can we control these critters? First, we must be sure it is indeed a mole and not a vole.

    Charles Darwin called it “one of the most wonderful plants in the world.”

    There is only one species of the plant that grows in a small corner of the world.

    It is the Venus flytrap. And it is only found in the wild in this region.

    The Nature Conservancy is working to preserve its natural habitat, right here in Brunswick County.

    “They are only found in the wild in a 100-mile radius around Wilmington,” said Sara Babin, conservation coordinator. “This is the only place in the world they grow naturally.”

  • Women of faith unite at Seaside UMC retreat

    SUNSET BEACH—A day of fellowship and faith dedicated to only women is in the works at Seaside United Methodist Church.

    The church’s women’s group is preparing for the 4th annual Women’s Day by the Sea, a spiritual event for women. This year for the first time organizers are not only from Seaside UMC.

    I have been carrying around a dollar bill for at least two weeks now. When I received it back in my change at a gas station in Sunset Beach, I immediately noticed a red stamp on the dollar. It reads “Track this bill @ www.wheresgeorge.com.” The red stamp appears on both sides of the bill.
