  • Southport man accused in shootings during two-county chase

    A Southport man is accused of shooting at two people during a chase that began in Leland and ended in Wilmington on Wednesday morning. No one was injured.

    Terrell Jamal Pompey, 28, of Stuart Avenue is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied vehicle and possession of firearm by a felon out in New Hanover County, according to a Wilmington Police Department news release.

    Johnnie and Violet Smith of Ash celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 16 with a celebration at Cypress Creek Church in Whiteville. The couple, who wed June 16, 1957, in Conway, S.C., have two children and five grandchildren.

You can either cook the tomatoes for a very short time or let them simmer and bubble for at least 40 minutes.
