The prospective groom is the son of Monroe and Thelma Smith of Ash. An April 30 wedding is planned at Soldier Bay Baptist Church in Ash.

    County winners have been announced for the Brunswick Soil & Water Conservation District’s annual poster and essay contest for 2011. This year’s topic was: Water: The Cycle of Life. These contests encourage local students to develop lifelong natural resource stewardship principles while gaining the experience of competition among their peers.

    Brunswick County Animal Services is sponsoring a rabies clinic on Saturday, April 2. Cost is $6 for one rabies shot.
