RALEIGH—A Leland woman has been charged with insurance fraud.
N.C. Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin announced the arrest of Lakeia C. Freeman, 28, of 136 Parsley St., Leland, last week.
Freeman was charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretences.
According to a Department of Insurance press release, in March 2011, Freeman reported to Allstate Insurance Co. she unintentionally backed her boyfriend’s 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe into her 2002 Acura, causing more than $5,000 in damage.
