SHALLOTTE—Eighteen-year-old Courtney Robinson knows firsthand the importance of heart health.
Diagnosed with a heart murmur at age 16, Robinson said awareness is the key to preventing heart disease.
“I’ve learned you have to exercise and you have to eat right, and if you don’t do it, it will mess you up,” she said.
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
“It kills more people than cancer,” Robinson said.
