To the editor:
July is a transition month for North Carolina families who receive FNS benefits (formerly called Food Stamps). The state Department of Social Services that oversees the FNS program made a recent change that affects the dates families receive their benefits.
While it is a statewide decision, my concern is for our local families who will be affected. Some families will have to wait 10 days longer this month, requiring them to make their food last 40 days instead of 30 days.
