My wife and I attended a ceremony to commemorate Memorial Day. The ceremony at the VFW in Calabash was well done with great reverence to all our veterans.
This letter is in support of a community park to be in Sunset Beach, on the Intracoastal Waterway and Mary’s Creek. The purchase of this land and the subsequent development of the park is an investment in our community’s future.
It is inconceivable [Sunset Beach] town council would feel it is in the best interest of the residents of the town to purchase 5.2 acres at $2.65 million for an unwanted town park.
It has become a nightmare trying to get to Home Depot, Belk and BB&T in Shallotte.
Why is Sunset Beach Town Council afraid to hear from the voters? Why do certain members continually refuse to allow a voter referendum to decide the fate of the proposed town park?
Calabash property appraisal adjacent to park land: Fix it and move on. The concept is a benefit to the city if the numbers are fair to everyone.
I read Dr. Ernie’s Ward’s column (May 5, Beacon) with appreciation but I highly differ with one remark he made: “No other dog (pit bulls) has endured such bad press (sadly much of it earned).”
