To the editor: The morning was clear and sunny with the fresh warmth of a spring day. Flowers were blossoming and the grass was a rich green, but, alas, all was not rosy.
Upon retrieving my newspaper, I was greeted by an unfortunate display of drenched driveways, sidewalks, garage doors and fences. It had been a busy night for errant sprinklers.
This is a prime example of wasting an alarming amount of water. And we are still facing a decade of drought conditions. The EPA estimates that more than 50 percent of commercial and residential irrigation water goes to waste.
