Another piece of Brunswick Town history has come up from the bottom of the Cape Fear River.
Jim McKee, Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site historian, said Norfolk Dredging Co. was working on maintenance along the Cape Fear River channel Dec. 21 when they discovered an eight-foot long, 18th Century cannon.
“They use one of those clamshell devices that scoops material out of the water. It was in the clamshell,” McKee said. “It was an oops.”
