  • BCC men split two home games in basketball

    BOLIVIA — The BCC men’s basketball team beat Denmark Tech 95-69 Saturday at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym. Demark dropped to 1-6 in the region, 3-10 overall.

    For BCC, Bobby Stenborg scored 21 points, Saleik Edwards 19, Khaileel Dailey 13, Tanner Poole 12 and Jaylon Wray 10.

    On Sunday, Caldwell beat BCC 90-79. Caldwell improved to 6-4, 20-7.

    For BCC, Bobby Stenborg scored 23 points, Edwards 16 and Devin Hutchinson 13.

    BCC is 2-7 in NJCAA Division I Region 10, 15-11 overall.

  • BCC women rally, lose to Patrick Henry

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team fell behind 28-13 but rallied to take a 54-53 lead before losing 63-62 to Patrick Henry Community College on Saturday.

    For BCC (2-9 in NJCAA Division II Region 10, 10-9 overall), Lauren Jenkins scored 22 points in the game at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    Other BCC scorers: Briana Jones nine, Leilani Emile eight, Andrea Raynor seven, Lakita Basnight seven, Sydney Harrison five, Danielle Brisson four.

    BOLIVIA — Wake Tech beat Brunswick Community College 63-53 in an NJCAA Region 10 Division II basketball game Jan. 14.

    BCC, playing its first game since Dec. 17, is 1-3 in the region, 9-3 overall. Wake Tech is 3-1, 9-3.

  • BCC teams enter break with Classic victories

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team finished 3-0 in the Holiday Basketball Classic, improving to 9-2.

    BCC, an NJCAA Division II team, opened the tourney by beating Division II Delaware Tech 63-49 Dec. 15 at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    For BCC, Lauren Jenkins scored 13 points and Briana Jones 11. Other Dolphin scorers: Amaris Houston 8, Jayda Malone 7, Corkie Aquafredda 7, Sydney Harrison 6, Danielle Brisson 5, Dellasia Freeman 3, Lakita Basnight 2, Leilani Emile 1.

  • BCC basketball teams win home games

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team beat the University of Mount Olive JV 85-61 in the Lady Dolphins’ home opener Nov. 15.

    For BCC, Briana Jones scored 13 points and Lauren Jenkins 10 in the game at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    Twelve players scored for BCC. Other BCC scorers: Lakita Basnight 9, Aaliyah Vereen 8, Danielle Brisson 7, Leilani Emile 7, Andrea Raynor 7, Sydney Harrison 6,  Corkie Aquafredda 6,  Dellasia Freeman 6, Amaris Houston 4 and Kourtney Mitchell 2.

  • BCC loses to PHCC, season ends

     

    The Brunswick Community College baseball season ended in a 9-5 loss May 12 to host Patrick Henry Community College in the NJCAA Division II Region 10 championship tournament in Martinsville, Va.

    BCC finished with 13 hits as Chase Gehringer and Dillon Stewart hit home runs, but PHCC also had 13 hits.

    PHCC scored three runs in the first inning against starter Patrick Corcoran. Gerhinger hit a two-run home run in the top of third, but PHCC also scored twice in the inning. A PHCC run in the fourth put it ahead 6-2.

  • Ex-BCC players contribute to ECU victory

     For the fourth-straight game, East Carolina scored double-digit runs cruising past Princeton 11-2 March 17 at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.

    The Pirates (14-6) extended their current win streak to five games (9 of last 10),while Princeton falls to 1-10 on the season.

  • Lady Dolphins continue second-half resurgence

     BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team continued its second-half resurgence by beating Spartanburg Methodist College 65-50 Sunday, Feb. 22, in a non-region basketball game at BCC.

    For BCC, Brianna Baham scored 22 points, Courtney Pearsall 13 and Anshonee Addison 11. Other BCC scorers: Baylee Simpson five, Asha Graham two, D’Asya Wilson two, A.J. Mays two, Monica Smalls two, Jasmine Corbett three and Hailey Czigler three.

  • BCC men lose to D-2 No. 4 Richard Bland

     BOLIVIA —  Richard Bland College, ranked No. 4 in NJCAA Division II men’s basketball, beat Brunswick Community College 88-65 in a non-region game Wednesday, Feb. 4.

    The Statesmen improved to 21-3. BCC dropped to 10-14.

    For BCC, JacQues Chambers scored 13 points and Robin Moore 12.

    Other BCC scorers: Jaquan Grissett seven, Carson Smith seven, Kevin Rowell seven,

    Cortell Busby four, Taylor Buffkin seven, Najee Pritchett eight.

  • Cape Fear defeats BCC in men’s basketball

     BOLIVIA — Cape Fear Community College beat Brunswick Community College 70-70 in a NJCAA Division I Region 10 men’s basketball game Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    For BCC (0-3, 9-11), Carson Smith scored 18 points, Jaquan Grissett 17 and Taylor Buffkin 10. JacQues Chambers scored eight points, Robin Moore six, Cortell Busby five, Natjee Pritchett four and Kevin Rowell two. 

    The Dolphins trailed 38-30 at the half, but after a technical foul four straight free throws by Smith gave BCC a 40-38 lead.
