  • BCC finishes 2-1 in weekend volleyball

     BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College volleyball team played three matches over the weekend at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    Against Guildford Tech on Sunday, BCC won 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 25-22.

    BCC trailed 8-1 in the first and fought off two game points before losing.

    The second game was tied 22-22 before BCC gained a point off an errant serve. An errant Guilford hit and a kill by Katrina Brown won the game.

  • BCC wins volleyball opener

     BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College volleyball team beat the St. Andrews’ junior varsity 25-15, 26-24, 25-9 Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    BCC has a new coach this season, Justin Hoskins, and the Dolphins played before an enthusiastic crowd of many fellow student-athletes.

    Morgan Sullivan served the Dolphins to a 10-4 lead in the first game and the Dolphins controlled the rest of the game for the victory.

  • BCC scores in ninth to beat Wake Tech 11-10

     

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College baseball team beat Wake Tech 11-10 in nine innings in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, May 3, at Founders Field.

    BCC won the second game 11-0 in five innings as Alex Ministeri (8-1) threw a one-hitter, walking two and striking out four.

    Entering the final day of the regular season, BCC is 19-7 in the region (26-16 overall). Region leader Catawba Valley Community College is 21-6. BCC is on probation and ineligible for postseason games.

  • BCC loses twice to Rockingham

     Rockingham Community College beat Brunswick Community College 2-1 in nine innings and 9-2 in seven innings in region baseball games Friday, April 18, at Founders Field.

    In the 2-1 loss, BCC starter Jimmy Boyd gave up four hits and one run seven innings in a no-decision. He walked one and struck out five.

    Rockingham scored the winning run on a two-out error in the top of the ninth when two BCC outfielders bumped into each fielding a flyball and the ball dropped out of the glove of one of the outfielders.

  • BCC beats Catawba Valley 5-4 in 14 innings

     

    BOLIVIA — Brunswick Community College scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings and scored two in the 14th to beat Catawba Valley Community College in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Sunday at Founders Field.

    BCC won the second game 5-2 in seven innings.

    CVCC drops to 9-5 in the region, 22-7 overall. BCC is 10-4, 17-11, as it seeks a region title. BCC is on probation and ineligible for postseason play. Its season ends May 4.

  • BCC beats Patrick Henry 9-0

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College baseball team beat Patrick Henry Community College 9-0 in seven innings Saturday, March 1, at Founders Field.

    In chilly weather, Alex Ministeri pitched all seven innings and walked no one. He gave up four hits and struck out seven.

    BCC scored eight runs in the second, taking advantage of two errors, two wild pitches and a hit batter.

  • Missed free throws costly to BCC

    BOLIVIA — The things that are free were costly to the Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team Wednesday night.
    The Lady Dolphins missed eight second-half free throws in a hard-fought, suspense-filled 75-72 loss to Wake Tech.
    The defeat drops the Lady Dolphins to 3-3 in the Carolina Junior College Conference, while the Lady Eagles improve to 4-2.
    The game was tied seven times and had 12 lead changes.

  • Lady Dolphins defeat No. 7 Cape Fear

     BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team beat Cape Fear Community College 79-74 Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym. The loss was the first of the season for Cape Fear (11-1), who entered the game ranked No. 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll.

  • BCC women defeat Patrick Henry

     BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team beat Patrick Henry Community College 66-61 Sunday, Jan. 5, the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    For BCC, Kenedra Smith scored 18 points, Kima Sidberry 13 and Crystal Hicks 10.

    BCC led 34-19 at the half but a four-point play by the Patriots cut the lead to 38-37 with 14 minutes, 15 seconds left. PHCC led 43-42 with 10 minutes left, but back-to-back baskets by Hicks gave BC a 48-45 lead. The game remained close thereafter.

  • BCC teams lose in final games of Holiday Classic

     BOLIVIA — Caldwell Community College beat Brunswick Community College 77-68 Dec. 21 in the final game of the BCC Holiday Basketball Classic.

    For the host Dolphins, Montez Loman scored 16 points, Cam Jones 15 and Kalil Stuart 12. Taylor Buffkin started and scored six points.

    The first half was close early. A basket by the Dolphins’ Anthony Williams tied the score 17-all. A rebound by Buffkin cut the lead to 25-23, but a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer gave Caldwell a 35-27 lead.
