Lockwood Folly Dixie sign-ups Lockwood Folly Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball sign-ups are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 17, Jan. 24, Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14, at Cedar Grove Middle School. Sign-ups are also 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day at the Supply Fire Department. Fee is $55 for one player, $100 for two, $150 for three. Fee for Wee/Tee ball is $45.

By Patsy Thompkins-Keisler Special to The Beacon The Bell & Bell Vintage Modified Series finished its regular racing season Oct. 5 at Dublin Motor Speedway. To no one’s surprise, the fastest qualifier was Cameron Norris III of Sandy Creek. Norris consistently has been the front-runner in the V8 division. Sherman Garris, of Conway, S.C., was fastest qualifier in the 6-cylinder division. Norris and Garris had to  start in positions 9 and 10 because of rules regarding a previous race victory.

By Sarah Sue Ingram Beacon correspondent BOILING SPRING LAKES — Whenever West Brunswick and South Brunswick play each other in volleyball, somebody might as well cue up The Eagles’ song “Take It to the Limit.” That’s what the two cross-county rivals seem to do every time they play. They played another five-setter Tuesday, Oct. 1, before the Cougars won 22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 15-13.
