    Beachcombers
    The Beachcombers played a two-nets tournament Friday at Brunswick Plantation. The winners with a score of 116 (-28) were Bill McDavit, Dan O’Connell, Ed Nocella and Ed Hennessey. In second at 117 (-27) were Matt Beairsto, Bob Byrne, Stu Cleveland and Gary Gutheil. Gross: Matt Beairsto 79, Gary Gutheil 82 and Sid Silver 88. Nets: Gutheil 64, Dennis McCann 65, Bill McDavit 67, Dan O’Connell and Ed Nocella 68 and Ed Hennessey and Matt Beairsto 69. Matt Beairsto is golfer of the week.

    Maintaining a golf course during the dog days of summer is a daunting task for all our superintendents.
    These guys and gals are not just grass cutters. They are highly educated, trained professionals who know agronomy, plant identification, chemicals, biology, botany, design, management and business. Most have college degrees, some have graduate degrees, all take continuing education in order to remain certified.

    On Independence Day, we remembered those who have served our nation to keep the freedom.
    We have joined forces with The First Tee of Brunswick County. Why? For a number of reasons. We are still serving and volunteering our time, talents and energy to an organization that builds on character development we can use for a lifetime through the game of golf. What a wonderful concept: having fun and learning life skills our children in Brunswick County can take and build on.

    Ocean Ridge won the Coastal Carolina Interclub Association (CCIA) event played June 26 at the Tiger’s Eye golf course at Ocean Ridge Ocean Ridge has now taken over the lead for CCIA events of the year.
