    Results of a two-nets tournament May 30 at the Valley at Eastport. The winners with a score of 109 (-31) were Reggie Auten, Tom Quick, Hal Riebesehl and Sid Silvers. Second were Roy Laster, Bob Byrne, Bob Smith and Bob Brownley with at 113.

     In the event May 19at Glen Dornoch, the game was a net and a gross on par 4s and par 5s and a net and two gross on the par 3s. 

    Winners at a 162 were Pete Scott, Joe Gallo, Sid Pennington and a player by draw. Second were Ron Doeblin, Arnie Northrop, Greg Jensen and a player by draw. Third were Mike Devereux, John Ducey, Von Hincher and Rich West.

My name is Christina Lance and I'm very happy to welcome you to Media Day for the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open championships. I would like to take a moment here to introduce our speakers.   • Ladybirds going strong for 23 years

     One of the best things about women’s golf in Brunswick County is the Ladybirds golf league.

    It started Jan. 21, 1991, when representatives from Brick Landing, Brierwood, Carolina Shores, Fox Squirrel (now The Lakes), Oak Island and Sea Trail met to discuss forming a ladies interclub league.
