Golf is alive and well in Brunswick County and I’m delighted.
Several years ago, it was a different story. The economy had tanked; golf rounds were down on the Carolina Coast and courses were closing here and there in the Myrtle Beach, S.C., area. Bay Tee, Gator Hole, Ocean Isle Beach Golf Course and Calabash Links were gone.
My husband, Gene, and I had worked hard all our lives and we had built a great retirement home on the third hole of Brick Landing. Then that course went into bankruptcy and closed.
