The Brunswick County Senior Basketball League uses the Supply Elementary School  gymnasium twice each week after school is dismissed. Bill Davis, from Boiling Spring Lakes, collected funds from the players and made a donation to Dwight Willis, the  school’s principal and asked him to select where the money was needed.
“We appreciate the basketball players’ generosity and be assured the donation will be  applied to a good cause,” Willis said. “We expect to identify a home for the donation soon.”

The Ocean Ridge Ladies Golf Association (ORLGA) played its annual spring member- member tournament April 21 at Lion’s Paw and April 26 at Panther’s Run. Twenty six two-member teams competed over the two days in four different nine-hole formats.
The formats the first day were net of partners and better-ball of partners. Alternate shot and scramble were the formats for the second day. Prizes were awarded to the top eight teams with the lowest total net scores for all the formats.  

Canadians love Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the entire Grand Strand from Pawley’s Island to Southport. Many visit annually. Some even own vacation homes here because playing golf in February is not an option in Ontario. When the snows fall and cold winds blow, the Carolina Coast seems like a veritable paradise.
The Grand Strand is often called the Golf Capital of the World. We have a year-round temperate climate, more than 100 great public golf courses. In addition, we have great restaurants, wonderful fishing, outstanding shopping and a fabulous beach.

The Beachcombers played last week at Brierwood. Low gross: Randy Cogdill, Stu Cleveland, 85; Harry Haggerty, 87; Larry Cecil, 89. Low nets: Cecil, 64; Cleveland, 70. Team two low nets per hole: Cleveland, Haggerty and Cecil at 21-under par. Golfer of the week was Cecil.
