  • Bowersox, White win two events...

    BOLIVIA — South Brunswick junior Tyler Bowersox won two events and swam on two winning relays and South Brunswick sophomore McKenzie White won two events and swam on a winning relay in a four-team swim meet Friday, Dec. 4, at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center pool.

    Bowersox’s and White’s times also surpassed regional standards. In all, South swimmers attained regional standards 17 times. The regional is in February and is the qualifier for the state meet.

    BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College men’s basketball team beat Wake Tech 105-88 in a non-region game Dec. 2 at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.

    Sophomore guard Alex Brown scored 27 points, freshman guard Lysander Bracey 20 and freshman forward Eric Freeman 15 as BCC had to hold off a late Wake rally. BCC is 6-4 overall.

    Wake Tech, which had given up at least 100 points in three straight losses entering this game, is 2-5.

  • Trojan girls defeat Saints

    SHALLOTTE —  West Brunswick rallied from a first-quarter deficit to beat Christian Academy (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) 43-32 in a non-conference girls’ basketball game Dec. 1.

    For West (2-1), sophomore Natyra Gore had 13 rebounds and six points. Junior Kaitlyn Bellamy scored 10 points. Sophomore Jaida Allen scored 10 points and had seven assists. Sophomore Logan Locklear scored nine points and had six steals.  Freshman Breanna Mercer had seven rebounds and four points. Freshman Dyna Jeffries scored four points.
